Globelight Festival: 25/8/16
For our lighting class both the first and second years went to the Globlight Festival in Abbostford. We first went though and viewed each instillation. My favourite was the “Dream Home” by Christine Ko, at first I didn’t even care what the meaning behind it was, I was blown away by the way it was isolated by being surrounded by strips of film that blocked out light so you could not view into the piece without entering it, and once you did so you were presented with pure white light with a small little house covers in fabrics.
After viewing all the pieces, we were split into groups of 4, and tasked with picking a piece and then studying it and showing how it worked, and how it would be improved, my group all agreed on “Dream Home” (which can be seen as my artifact) we decided that one way we would improve it would be to make the layer of film around it thicker as to make the walk through it longer. We also discovers that the meaning behind the piece was about how she was always identified as a “Asian” when we was younger but how she did not identify as one, rather than as an Australian
We were also told that we would need to draw inspiration for out systems that we would need to install later in the year. I decided that technically speaking the most interesting to me was another piece in which the artist used paper and a Led which was colour scrolling to show the effects it had on the colour of the paper.
Opening night 20th August, Abbotsford Convent. I am showing in the main ironing room.... #excited#globelight#globelightfestival#installationart#melbourne#art (at Abbotsford Convent)
These G30 globe light size retrofit replacement bulbs are pure white in color. They are faceted LED screw-in replacement bulbs designed for traditional incandescent G30 (E17 socket) sockets. They have a 2 inch diameter. Each has five super bright LEDs encapsulated by a hard-to-break lens (unlike the old-fashioned and very fragile incandescent bulbs). Fits directly into existing traditional sockets without extra transformers. Saves a considerable amount of power on electric use. These are great for simple on/off applications. Not recommended for dimming (as in some computer animated displays). Sold in packs of 25 bulbs. Great for Christmas and Valentine's Day too.
These G50 globe light size retrofit replacement bulbs are pink in color. They are faceted LED screw-in replacement bulbs designed for traditional incandescent G50 (E17 socket) sockets. They have a 3 inch diameter. Each has five super bright LEDs encapsulated by a hard-to-break lens (unlike the old-fashioned and very fragile incandescent bulbs). Fits directly into existing traditional sockets without extra transformers. Saves a considerable amount of power on electric use. Each bulb consumes 1.7 watts of power so you can safely connect up to 660 bulbs on one 15 amp circuit. These are great for simple on/off applications. Not recommended for dimming (as in some computer animated displays). Sold in packs of 25 bulbs. Great for Christmas and Valentine's Day too.
