Taylor was not scheduled to sing tonight until the last minute. Jimmy Fallon described how his mom would squeeze her loved one’s hands three times to tell them she loved them. Jimmy had to have been listening to the album at some point, and heard the lyric “Squeeze my hand three times in the back of the taxi, I can tell that it’s gonna be a long road” and thought, my Mom needs this song, and called Taylor up. And despite making as few public appearances as possible, she did it. For Jimmy, someone who has supported her for years, and is hurting indescribably right now.
