Not to be a total nerd (But okay, absolutely to be a total nerd) I absolutely ADORE all the "car" related diction in "American Cars." Some are quite obvious, and used in the car way, and then others are nice and subtle, thrown in there to mean something different, but completely sets the theme. I love it. 1.) "I was workin' on a plan" (like you would work on a car) 2.) "GASlighting my friends" 3.) "Headlights" 4.) "Plates" 5.) "Drove" "Drivin'" 6.) "American Cars" (Obviously) 7.) "Fix It" 8.) "Patch It Up" 9.) "Tough" (Like the famous American car slogan "Built Ford Tough") 10.) "You always come runnin' back" (Like a car runs) 11.) "Drag"
Like, I know it's obvious, but I still really enjoy it.
i bet the world was told the tale of how ryland grace heroically stepped up and sacrificed himself as the science specialist after the explosion. i bet his students were told that their teacher bravely chose to die to save them, all of them. ryland grace, the savior of earth.

The thing is, in order to have a healthy and robust fandom, a piece of media NEEDS to leave some questions unanswered. Some relations unshipped. Some plot holes unfilled. Some backstories unwritten. yknow. i really appreciate ryan gosling's commitment to keeping the canon Grace reaction of just fucking crying the entire time. it's in character, and it's like, an extremely realistic reaction to the situation at hand. But. from most actor's ive heard (both irl friends and interviews from professionals) have bemoaned crying scenes in film, because it can be very draining and give you a splitting headache to do multiple takes etc etc. So they could have dialed it back and saved the tears for the more poignant moments. but no. they clearly went fuck it, we're committing. Grace is a Crier. here. have him crying in happiness, sadness, despair, terror, relief, disbelief, overwhelming joy. Have some heaving sobs. have some single tears. oohhh this man is gonna Cry about it.
