Oh if you could have been 11 year old me reading the YouTube comments underneath clips of Peter Schibetta 😔 they were insulting him as though he was born to be tortured they were saying he deserved it they were insulting him every which way!! If you read the YouTube comments only, you would think Peter was the most evil guy in the prison and emitted some sort of radioactive grievous sin that attracted bad men towards him! So I am going to look for clues to see what the narrative of the show thinks of his rape:

hmm okay so the scene in Strange Bedfellows following Peter’s rape where Miguel gossips about the rape with Chico over cards (“You should’ve seen it! Schibetta’s eyes were wide open!”)

but then he IMMEDIATELY gets scared just from seeing Adebisi walk by,

and doesn’t stand up to Adebisi, instead opting to snap at Chico

tells me that the show does see rape as a cruel action…a weapon used to keep people in line. Miguel makes fun of Peter Schibetta for being raped, but doesn’t want it to happen to him.

oh and also the irony of Adebisi ending up in the psych ward next to Schibetta at the end of season 2, is another clue that the show does not have the same malicious view of Peter Schibetta as the virulent YouTube commenters. Adebisi ending up in the psych ward, is Adebisi getting a little karma.. but Peter isn't a perfect victim for a number of reasons (being racist to Adebisi and impulsive) and Adebisi is smart + the prisoners only respect power, so he gets out soon enough :/

and the episode Next Stop, Valhalla is a clue too I think. just the whole episode. Dr. Nathan’s recovery arc in that

very amusing to rewatch the Dino and Gloria scene and compare it to Ryan's negative rizz in s2. If only Dino had held his head down in that toilet a few seconds longer. We could have had it all
