The sound of a train moving over a hundred miles per hour had once been something to marvel at for Trixanna. But now after sixteen years of traveling to and from the Capitol, of going to twelve to see KyAnne before she’d moved to Two, of victory tours and mandatory events for victors - Trixanna barely noticed it. She sat curled into the couch of the common area of the train, mug of steaming tea in hand and the recaps of the other districts on the capitol provided television. Valkaryie was down for a nap in Trixie’s bedroom, the male tribute was hiding in his room and Alex had said she was going to look around the other trains.
Caesar Flickerman’s voice was loud and annoying - something Trixie hadn’t gotten used to in her sixteen years of mentoring. She had fast forwarded through Caesar’s thoughts on the District Eleven tributes, stopping when she saw Effie Trinket don her television screen. KyAnne, sat the lone victor for Twelve since the Seventy-Fifth, behind Effie. The boy’s name was called and Trixie watched as he walked to the stage, but when Effie called out the girl’s name - Charity Colace - Trixanna could see it on KyAnne’s face that this tribute was young even before the tiny girl entered the stage. She closed her eyes, a great sigh leaving her lips. She’d know and been friends with KyAnne for sixteen years, dated her on and off for ten, and lived with her for the past two. She knew a little girl would destroy her when she died. But before she could reach for her phone, she heard a door open.
