This was kind of self indulgent, I wanted to base something out of the deep sea angler fish. Their name is Obsidian.

Deep freshwater????

You know how deep sea fish are all flashy and weird?

What if a lake got so deep, that all these weird glowy freshwater fish showed up? Like a neon catfish, or...or mushy goldfish? Or a freaky oar fish like eel?!?!

Time for the somewhat annual redraw of my very first digital drawing (2018). Second is 2019, and most recent is 2023. I love how my anatomy and lighting has improved so much and then the way I draw fish is exactly the same. In fact most of them are in the exact same positions.

I’m calling this post: Pepper Paints The tail’s changed since the newest WIP here. This a commission I’m doing for someone on Flight Rising. I’ve got a hankerin’ for a Toyhou.se account sooo I’m legit doing this for like... 00.25 cents. (how much a code is actually worth, lol) But it’s cool, I like merfolk designs. I wish his tail was actually a dragonfish tail, but I’m planning on doing another with my own design so I can make my vision a reality. I have species designs for all sorts of merkinds. C: It’s a secret-not-so-secret love of mine.
