Riley Matthews’ Beginnings

This was made to celebrate the theme of beginnings for this month’s @girlmeetsgivingback inspirations, and the charity I’d like to share is the Population Media Center. The Population Media Center is a non-profit, international NGO that produces soap opera style serial dramas that are written to turn their characters into role models and promote positive behavioral changes in regards to issues such as gender equality, global population, and environmental protection . They also work to employ local writers and producers in the areas where they’re trying to affect change. The Population Media Center takes a unique approach that acknowledges the power of the media we take in and uses that power for good.

Introducing Girl Meets Giving Back!

Girl Meets Giving Back is a new blog dedicated to giving all fans of Girl Meets World the opportunity to keep the show and fandom alive while doing some good.

How?

We’re going to provide a handful of prompts and inspirations every month. When you fill them in any medium that you like, you include some information about a non-profit organization and tag us using #gmgivingback. Then we reblog the work, hopefully giving your charity (and your work) a larger audience.

There’s no membership and no restrictions. As long as your work is appropriate for all audiences and respectful, it can be about any character or ship. (Read more about our guidelines here).

Start by following Girl Meets Giving Back so you can get all of our updates regarding monthly prompts, and so you can see everything we reblog. Check out our info pages and FAQ to learn more, and ask us any questions you can think of.

GIRL MEETS GIVING BACK - AUGUST 2017

“Our mission is to ensure that all children, regardless of their background, graduate from high school prepared for, and with access to, college or career training.” 

In honor of the very first month of Girl Meets Giving Back, I chose the prompt “take on the world,” and the nonprofit organization that I want to call attention to is one that helps to provide children of all backgrounds access to quality education. Stand For Children is an American nonprofit dedicated to fighting for educational opportunities for underprivileged kids on the familial, local, and policy levels; they spark change in school districts all around the country so that our youth can graduate high school ready to take on the world.

This was made to celebrate the theme of friendship for this month’s @girlmeetsgivingback inspirations, and the charity I’d like to share is Camp Sunshine! Camp Sunshine is a year-round, camp-style retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. They work to provide these families with a vacation away from their illnesses, giving them time to relax, heal, and have new experiences that they would be otherwise unable to get, all at zero cost to the families.

Is fanart acceptable or only fanfics?

Fan art is definitely acceptable! Any sort of fan work is, so if writing isn’t your thing but you like to draw or play with photoshop, you can definitely participate that way instead.
