Maya deserves BETERRR!!!!
the paint scene in gm upstate got me seriously effed up.Like maya is literally telling riley all her feelings she’s PAINTING THEM for gosh sakes.she literally say in I quote”How was your day maya,It was great dad” you had that i wanted that”
“you went to bed everday with a smile on your face while I went to bed wondering if my father was gonna be ;at the breakfast table in the morning I WANTED THAT!
but does riley hear that.is riley listening to what maya went through.NO!!!
she doesn’t!!!!! out of all the things to say after maya is expressing how bad it was for her growing up riley ignorantly says “I wanted what you had.Everyday was new adventure.Homework rebellion, sneaking out to a college party.”
Like I’m sorry but what does that have to do with what maya just said.Maya was talking about her childhood yet riley thinks that her rebellion stage needs to be brought up right now.
it is like she only sees her rebellion and not her pain
and it kills me when maya puts paint on her and Riley says”there you are”
Like i just wanna jump inside the tv and scream no she isn’t thats not maya.
Thats just her anger and heartbreak, the emotions she felt when her dad left bubbling under the surface.
Maya is NOT GOING THROUGH AN IDENTITY CRISIS!!!!!!!!!
she is having hope.thats it.that’s all riley is seeing.the happy, golucky side of maya.the maya that pushes to be a better person. A maya where she doesn’t feel the need to rebell beacuse and I quote “SHES NOT ANGRY ANYMORE!!!
she’s maturing.there is nothing wrong with that.Riley just needs TO SHUTUP AND LISTEN REALLY LISTEN!!! instead of interrupting maya midrant and dumping purple paint on her!I wanted to hear what mayawas gonna say next I have a funny feeling that if riley just let her talk this whole identity crisis crap would be over.but whatever
girl meets upstate to rucas shippers is like girl meets texas part 3 to lucaya shippers
Katy: I love somebody? Topanga: Do you? Katy: And somebody loves me.
Me: *flails around like a dying seal bc of all the feels”
Maya's change is positive!!
I honestly feel as if the writers are messing with us right now. Obviously the triangle is not resolved, and if Maya realizing she has been Riley was the fix then it would have been resolved in upstate. The problem is that the theme of this show is that people change people, and the writers make it very clear that Maya and Riley change each other for the better. The Riley we first met would never take Maya out to Shawn's house or even speak to Maya the way she has (telling Maya she has lost herself, lecturing her for it), and she would definitely never sneak in the school and throw paint on her either. Riley has changed for the better because of Maya. Maya has made her brave and able to stick up for herself and her beliefs. Maya has made Riley stronger. (And we do not see anyone telling Riley she needs to go back to the meek, afraid girl she was) The Maya we first met would never get an A on a test or have really nice clothes (thanks to Shawn) or want a guy that will actually love her and treat her right. Because of Riley, Maya wants to try in school to make her life better. Because of Riley, Maya has met Shawn who has helped her feel loved and supported by a parental figure. Because of Riley, Maya sees the good in Lucas and wants someone as good as him to love her because as much as she does not want to admit it, deep down she knows she deserves it. The changes that are happening to Maya are not negative. She is not no longer Maya and she is not growing in a negative way. She is growing positively with the love from Riley, Shawn, Topanga, Katy, Cory, Lucas, Farkle, Zay, etc. She is becoming a better person and a person that actually has hope for herself (which makes her want to better herself and her life) At this time, we just need to trust the writers and know that they understand this as well. The characters in the show do not always know what the right thing is, and they will learn from this situation. They will learn that Maya is not changing for the worse and Maya does not need to be a bad kid that does bad things because she has no hope for herself or her life. Maya is Maya no matter what, she is just becoming a better Maya. I think the whole learning lesson of this particular point of the season/show is that it is fine for people to change people. Everyone must accept the change in a person as long as it is positive because it is the person growing into who they are. Maya's loved ones are trying to regress her back to a rebellious child so that they can have that fun fireball in their life, but they are missing the beauty of who Maya is now. I think this is why Lucas seems so confused with the idea of Maya finding herself. He sees her and he sees who she is and he does not see Riley. He sees the Maya that cares and loves and would do anything for her friends. He does not see how she is Riley now because she is not Riley, she is just a better version of herself. I think this is also why Maya was getting so aggravated with Riley, even after seeing Shawn. She was trying to tell Riley and her art teacher and Topanga and Cory that she is not confused or broken, she is just growing now. She was trying to say that she is not going to know exactly who she is, but the person she is becoming is still Maya. She was trying to tell them she does not need to be fixed. She was then forced into going on a journey of finding herself where she had to get rid of all her nice clothes (which she did not look that happy about after having an old leather jacket again) and convinced herself that she isn't Maya anymore. I think this will lead into a problem where Maya starts being a problem child again, and all the characters will see how Maya growing to be just a bit more like Riley is a beneficial thing. Maya is Maya. Maya will always be Maya. Maya is growing. Maya is becoming a better Maya. Hopefully this is shown in the show soon.
my favorite riley matthews quote is the sound she makes after shawn calls her a “second generation cory matthews”
lol just saying even if by an extremely small chance that lucas was going to pick riley that choice probably flew out the window once he saw how riley reacted
