I'm thinking it's 2008 because the girls would have been six then, which is when they met.
Ah, that makes sense. My brain just got hung up on “but GMW started in 2014.” I wasn’t thinking about the fact that 2008 would be when the characters met.
From the perspective of a hetero-male. I saw an episode of GMW randomly and got the immediate impression that the girls were more than friends. The scene that made me say game over was the I'm yours scene from Bay window. Told the screen, give up Lucas and Farkle, neither of them are going to pick either of you, they have already chosen each other.
It seems like almost everybody in the fandom at least side-ships Rilaya at this point.
(Although admittedly, I run a Rilaya blog, so it stands to reason that I’m more likely to see the parts of the fandom for which that is true.)
Or in fanon they kiss and both were disgusted that they are lovey dovey
Or that. There’s definitely room in that scene for them to go back to it later and say there was more.

Maya sees herself being sappy and emotional and the younger versions of herself use snark as a defense mechanism to guard their feelings. Future Maya seems to be a little more in touch with her emotions. People change people.

was it implied that grown up Rilaya are going to move in a new apartment together? or is it only Maya but her and Riley are still gonna see each other everyday?
They weren’t exactly clear on that, but I’m running with the headcanon that they’re gonna be living together.

As I understand it, almost every episode goes up a week early for WatchDisney subscribers. (I think that’s the name of it anyway.) But also, it aired properly last night. It is indeed Rilaya as fuck. I died and was reborn.
