Hello hi! I'm making a handmade Nexopedia for the first Nexomon game! Since this one has no entries on its residents, I thought I should try my hand at theorizing what these little guys can do :)

I'll borrow Pokemon's type system for this, but I'll be sure to keep it as close as I can to what their typing originally was! There's only so much to work with when there's 8 elements after all. (/lh)

Here's a sneak peek at the entries, starring the first four Nexomon in the Nexopedia! (And for the sake of preserving length it'll be under a read more):

Platyfoo - Normal/Water, 1’04

These Nexomon reside by riverbanks of the cold eastern tundra of the land. With a thick layer of fat and strong tails, they commune in groups to form societal dams where they go to sleep at night, huddled up to one another for warmth. While not frequently exposed to humans, they are easily approachable and not prone to run or attack in the presence of someone. It is possible to tame them using food from your pockets, but this isn’t advised unless you’re planning on capturing them; left to their own devices, a single fed Platyfoo will return to its group to bring them all back to you to be fed.

Gnob - Rock, 2’

A natural prankster, Gnob looks the part. Many people who have stumbled into caves where this Nexomon resides have found their pockets lighter than when they first entered, with Gnob close by looking pleased with itself. However, it is not very strong, and as a Nexomon that doesn’t gather in large groups, it can be easily scared off by making sudden noises or fast movements.

Hobyn - Normal/Flying, 1’02

Hobyn flock around stronger avian Nexomon frequently, serving as sharp eyes that alert the rest of the group to the first sign of danger. They sing invigorating songs that have been shown to boost the spirits and fighting power of their comrades, and possess a strong fighting spirit themselves. They’ve been known to take on much larger Nexomon without so much as a hint of fear and won’t back down until they physically can fight no longer.

Algamaid - Water/Fairy, 2’03

Shy and elusive, Algamaid make their homes in the sandbanks by Palmaya Beach’s shoreline. As they get older they expand their territories and go farther from their birthplace, ending up anywhere from river deltas and streams by Parum or sharing rivers with Platyfoo in the tundras. They have durable bodies and thick skin; coupled with a tail suited for swimming against currents, they’re frequently found swimming upstream to find an unclaimed body of water to stake their soon-to-be permanent territory. The orb on their head, which has been likened to appearing like a jewel, grants them some healing and defensive powers as well. While they don’t frequently use these powers, they will sometimes sing to restore a wounded Nexomon that has collapsed near their homes.

For years, I've been fascinated by the films of Andy Milligan, a Saint Paul-born director who took his shot at Hollywood bigtime in the '60s, '70s, and '80s. His output, all a low-budget affair, has a certain charm to it, due in no small part to the auteur's use of non-actors who seem to have just had a script thrust into their chest bare minutes before "Action!"

This weekend, The Doomed & Stoned Show presents another entry in our 'Doomed Cinema' series, zooming in for a closer look at Andy Milligan's 'Torture Dungeon' (1970). Set in vague medieval times, we are introduced to a power-mad Duke who will stop at nothing to see his ambitions to the throne of the plague-stricken kingdom realized -- even if it means a violent end to foe and family alike. Accompanying the storyline, a robust selection of down 'n' dirty doom, sticky sludge, and hot-to-trot New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
