Gnocchi is a traditional Italian dish. These homemade gnocchi are made from mashed potatoes and flour and are soft and pillowy. They can be used with a lot of different sauces to make a delicious meal.
Ingredients: 4 large potatoes, boiled and mashed. 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour. 1 egg, beaten. Salt, to taste.
Instructions: In a large mixing bowl, combine mashed potatoes, flour, beaten egg, and salt. Knead until a smooth dough forms. Divide the dough into small portions. Roll each portion into a long rope, about 1 inch thick. Cut the ropes into small pieces, about 1 inch each. Press a fork gently against each piece to create ridges. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Drop the gnocchi into the boiling water in batches, and cook until they float to the surface, about 2-3 minutes. Remove the cooked gnocchi with a slotted spoon and transfer them to a plate. Serve hot with your favorite sauce and garnish with grated cheese and fresh herbs.
