Gnom! The Mystery Of Spookifest
(Part 1/11)
kafkaesque? no. ✨️gnomic✨️
"I grow gnomic. It is the last phase."
― Samuel Beckett
(The Letters of Samuel Beckett 1929–1940)
genders based on the dungeons and dragons fifth edition playable races! this is the first of a few posts - this one includes the playable races from the player’s handbook. tiefleic was coined via submission to my blog earlier this year (post here), so the flags and definitions are inspired by that one! the flag colors are mostly taken from official d&d art.
as an umbrella term, i’ve decided to tag these as dundraic genders!
dragonbornic | dwarfic | elfic gnomic | halfelfic | halflingic halforcic | humanic | tiefleic
dragonbornic: a gender that is reminiscent of, related to, or best represented by the dragonborn race from dungeons and dragons. can be a kingender, but isn’t always.
dwarfic: a gender that is reminiscent of, related to, or best represented by the dwarf race from dungeons and dragons. can be a kingender, but isn’t always.
elfic: a gender that is reminiscent of, related to, or best represented by the elf race from dungeons and dragons. can be a kingender, but isn’t always.
gnomic: a gender that is reminiscent of, related to, or best represented by the gnome race from dungeons and dragons. can be a kingender, but isn’t always.
halfelfic: a gender that is reminiscent of, related to, or best represented by the half-elf race from dungeons and dragons. can be a kingender, but isn’t always.
halflingic: a gender that is reminiscent of, related to, or best represented by the halfling race from dungeons and dragons. can be a kingender, but isn’t always.
halforcic: a gender that is reminiscent of, related to, or best represented by the half-orc race from dungeons and dragons. can be a kingender, but isn’t always.
humanic: a gender that is reminiscent of, related to, or best represented by the human race from dungeons and dragons. can be a kingender, but isn’t always.
tiefleic: a gender that is reminiscent of, related to, or best represented by the tiefleic race from dungeons and dragons. can be a kingender, but isn’t always.
gnomic philosophers
"That's what I wanted to discuss with you. There are two kinds of philosophers here on Divine Wind. Aimaina Hikari, the man we will meet, is an analytical philosopher. You don't have the education to hold your own with him. So you are the other kind. Gnomic and mantic. Given to pithy phrases that startle others with their seeming irrelevancy." "Is it necessary that my supposedly wise phrases only seem irrelevant?" "You don't even have to worry about that. The gnomic philosophers depend on others to connect their irrelevancies with the real world. That's why any fool can do it."
[...]
"No, no, I don't mean epigrams," said Peter. "Those are too analytical. I mean genuinely strange things. For instance, you might have said, 'The woodpecker attacks the tree to get at the bug,' and then I would have had to figure out just how that might fit our situation here. Am I the woodpecker? The tree? The bug? That's the beauty of it."
