{SONGWRITING II}
personal experience; 140408 - 140417
Personal experience had played a large, and successful role in Byunghee's songwriting, experiencing things allowed the mind to be more creative and by teaching his students to go out into the world and try new things he was willing them to wondrous and high standards of original songs. "Good Morning Class," he started, sitting down at the front of the room "Today we're going to look into personal experiences that help us to develop ideas for songs." He smiled and looked round at the class, even by just taking a glance at them Byunghee was able to see that the class, as a whole, would be successful in coming up with one idea for the story of a song.
"Songwriting isn't just about putting words together in a harmony, by putting your own personal feelings and emotions into the songs you write you are instantly making them more original," he laughed, the class had probably lost interest with him babbling on about inane, and as they would think, unnecessary information for the course "because after all, not one person sat in this room has identical thoughts and feelings to another." Byunghee was slightly tempted to ramble on about his use of past events that had helped shaped some of the most famous songs he had written but he refrained himself in order to keep the sanity of his class. He knew at least one person in the room would be able to donate a little part of their emotions in order to help his analogy.
"At least on person in this room has had their heartbroken, right?" Though, Byunghee almost always frowned upon songs that told tales of heartbreak, he knew it would be the most relatable subject for his students to look upon. "Heartbreak is the most common experience for songwriters to base their songs upon, however, since you're all aspiring stars, I expect a little bit more from you," he clasped his hands together and relaxed back into his seat "I want you to each search for a memory that causes you a lot of emotions, positive or negative and I want you to tell me how that would work into a song... show me how you would make a hit track out of it." With a smug smile, he wrote the details on the board so it would stick in the minds of his students. 'Easy' he thought.
