⚠️ FINAL EPISODE SPOILERS ⚠️
It’s been 24 hours since I watched the finale.
I cried so much. I haven’t cried like this since Snape died.
I cried because the circle finally closed. The book is over, and it left a demon-and-angel-shaped hole in my heart.
A hole I’ll fill with the incredible fanfictions and fanart created by unbelievably talented people who keep making me emotional over and over again.
Good Omens brought me nothing but joy through all these years. Endless, pure, simple joy.
Even when those two stubborn idiots weren’t talking to each other.
And the ending is… right. Bittersweet, but right.
I’ve seen people complaining because there wasn’t an “I love you,” but the entire film is one long “I love you.”
Crowley says “I love you” when he admits he kept the bookshop untouched because he couldn’t bear to lose it. Crowley says “I love you” when he gives up his beloved Bentley to protect the bookshop. Crowley says “I love you” every single time he calls him “Angel.”
Aziraphale says “I love you” when he rushes back to Earth the moment Muriel says Crowley isn’t well. Aziraphale says “I love you” in the Chinese restaurant. And in the bookshop… with God and Satan there… oh, that entire scene is one endless love confession to Crowley.
They don’t need to say “I love you.” They know. And we know.
That’s enough.
A kiss? Yes, I would have loved to see a kiss. But what they shared instead — so chaste, so simple — was probably the most intimate and romantic gesture of their impossibly long lives.
They chose humanity, even at the cost of themselves. And honestly, that is one of the most canon things I have ever seen.
And the ending… the ending. That human life. That house. That garden…
Asa and Anthony showed us that it doesn’t matter if it’s another universe. It doesn’t matter if they are no longer an angel and a demon.
In every universe, they will always find each other. And they will always love each other.
With nightingales singing in the background.
So in the end… God was an Aziracrow shipper too.
God had a plan
God had a plan.
While She explained to the first angel who had ever lied to Her and the least demonic demon in all of Hell that, in the new universe, they would never have existed…
While those same eternal beings spoke of their love for humanity, sacrificing themselves to give them a real chance, She watched them and thought.
She would give them a chance too.
It would take millennia, entire ages, billions of years — but they would find each other again.
Without six thousand years of fear and misunderstanding.
And if their foolish, awkward, predictable love was real, they would know each other again. Unconsciously, perhaps — but somehow, their souls would remember.
That was what God was thinking while Aziraphale kissed Crowley, in his own way.
That was what She thought as that universe ran its course and that Book of Life finally closed for good.
And when Asa, billions of years later, came running out of the bookshop, God — in the space between spaces — smiled.
