So, over the last month or so I’ve amassed three siren/mermaid type books and one pirate-y arc. I figured why not participate in the #goatathon and have myself a little mermaid party. So, once I’ve finished Ace of Shades, which I’ll most likely do tonight, I’m going to get started on these lovelys!
Sea Change by S.M. Wheeler - This is a BookOutlet buy for me and after reading the synopsis I was very intrigued. What few reviews I read didn’t make it seem like a good book but I don’t care. Mermaid, circus, quest for freedom? Sign me up!
In Other Lands by Sarah Rees Brennan - This is a total #booklr inspired buy! After seeing so many people, @bookcub especially, gush about this book I went on the hunt to find it at my local bookstores. Not a damn one had it and for some reason I just couldn’t be fucked to buy it off Amazon and then lo and behold, B&N had it one day so I snatched it up!
The Surface Breaks by Louise O’Neill - This is a total cover buy for me, TBH. Underneath the dust jacket the hardcover itself has scales on it and it’s so damn pretty! I’m going to have so much fun taking pictures of this! It’s supposed to be a feminist take on The Little Mermaid and while not a whole lot of folks liked it, I’m really excited to give it a shot.
Over Raging Tides by Jennifer Ellision - Finally, this is an eARC I received from NetGalley months ago and honestly forgot I even had. I’m surprised I even have access to it anymore. BUT! It’s got lady pirates so I felt like it would fit in with the mermaid-y theme. It was published in March so...yeah. Whoopsies!
Anyways, these are the books I plan to read during #goatathon! I know it looks pretty lofty for one week but my scheduled days off from work started yesterday (Thursday) so short of grocery shopping and wedding shopping, I’ve got nothing but time to sit and read!
