You can't always protect your child but you can do your best to prepare them, after that it's up to them whether what you taught will take effect.  They will go out into the world, the fact is they are probably in it now, and they will make mistakes - you will make mistakes - but that doesn't mean you can't do your best to help prepare them along the way.
