The thing I most liked about translating this is that Gobzdieg actually has negative emotions and feelings in its grammar. With verb endings expressing the involuntary, aggression, threat and despair, the Bloodwhip translation gives off an incredibly grim atmosphere, which would be lost in English, if I translated back. The ring is inescapable, controlling and leaves only pain.

The commissive mood in Gobzdieg is used for threats only, to express the inevitable, much like in “I’ll kill you!” Many other moods, emphasis markers and rough conjugation can make passages deep with pressing negative emotions.

Paki - the face!

Here are some Gobzdieg (goblin) words slapped on top of a willing goblin’s face. Here are the words, their meanings and some plurals going clockwise:

Hey there! 

I’m available for commissions, but as a disclaimer my time is limited so if I do take any, it might take me a little while to finish! If you’re happy with waiting, I’m happy to draw.

Gobzdieg (gobspeak) is a functional work in-progress! It’s got a vocabulary of about 1000 words and the grammar is more or less solid. I have not finished version 1.0 of any documents yet though (Lexicon and Grammar are both at v0.4) as I have been super busy! One Day™…

The word for fire is buyu, the same root as buyag “magic” and buyagrat “magician”, also appearing in the name of the god of the Sun, magic, fire and death, Buyutzuggayag “fire/magic-spirit-master” / “the one who owns fire and spirit”. The word is one of the few rare words that were inspired by an existing word in media - this time in D&D - “booyagh” meaning “magic” (if I spelled that right).

For wildfire, I would say the best word would be rabuyu, the “ra-” suggesting a more divine, greater fire.

I occasionally translate bits and pieces into Gobzdieg (Goblin) to test the grammar, fill in gaps in vocabulary and for fun! This one was suggested on a language server I am on. English: The Sheep and the Horses A sheep that had no wool saw horses, one of them pulling a heavy wagon, one carrying a big load, and one carrying a man quickly. The sheep said to the horses: "My heart pains me, seeing a man driving horses." The horses said: "Listen, sheep, our hearts pain us when we see this: a man, the master, makes the wool of the sheep into a warm garment for himself. And the sheep has no wool." Having heard this, the sheep fled into the plain.
