"To love a handful of people very well, that's a good life" Emily Henry, A Million Junes
I like to talk a lot about love. About God's love, about how it shines through so many different people, how He calls so many out of darkness into His light.
It upsets me that Christians don't tend to be known for their love. Our love is conditional, it's loving people only in the sense that you say it, rather than show it, it's "I love you but I don't support you", it's "God loves you but He also hates you"
It's so confusing because I don't know what Jesus we've met if we act like that, I don't know what parts of scripture we're missing, because God isn't like that at all, His love can never be described as conditional. It's wholehearted, it's universal, it doesn't discriminate, it's pure and unfiltered and sacrificial love.
My ministry and mission centres around the singular point that no matter what, do everything in love.
I can't reach the whole world, I am but one child of God, however, as this lovely quote says, the good life is loving a few people very well.
God says, when two are three gather in my name there I am among them. The little things are by no means insignificant.
He saw when you payed for that person's coffee when they looked like they were having a bad day, God saw when you delivered those food parcels, you signed that petition, you educated yourself on someone else's experience, you cried with your friend, you laughed with another, when you smiled at a stranger, when you kept turning up to your little ministry even when you felt like giving up or or you prayed for the cars passing by you on your morning walk
That's the essence of the Christian experience, you don't have to be well known, you don't have to be the loudest preacher or the best at anything, God called you to dream small, to live a humble little life, where you love just like He did, you do right by others and by yourself
So you can look back on your little life and say, it mattered that I made even a little bit of difference, it mattered that I was candle in the an expance of dark, because a candles light can shine such a long way
