The more I think about the godlikes and their families, the more similarities I can find - with what surrogate mothers go through, and the comparison unsettles me.
Women face all the challenges of pregnancy, affecting their physical and mental health. They go through the labor, and the process of childbirth always comes hand in hand with life-threatening complications. The mothers of the godlikes, in this case, risk even more - and they don't even expect this, no one warns them, they're literally just "wombs" for these cruel gods - gods who may not want these children at all, who bear no love for them and can take their lives away, NEVER thinking of these mortal women, and their doubts, and their fears.
Now, thinking of all these celebrities, and, well... probably a stretch, but still something to think about.
