❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Don't apologize, I love talking writing stuff with you!!! This did get super long, tho, so I'm putting it under a cut:

2) What is your favorite fic of yours?

I mean, the real answer is all of them, lbr, but I'm really proud of trouble at my door (the necromancer au!!) because I love the worldbuilding I did, and it's basically the first case fic I ever wrote, and fight scenes that don't lead to sex!!! And a really good sex scene, too, if I do say so myself

3) What fic of yours do you think is underrated?

Hmmm, there's a couple answers for this, one of which is trouble at my door again, lol, but probably (this one) to the grave - it's an ultra rarepair (Chris Kreider/John Tavares), but I love the werewolf worldbuilding I dit, and sometimes I think about revisiting it

4) What fic of yours were you surprised by how popular it was?

Oh, probably any Tkachuks or Hughes (or Fantilis now, I guess lol) fic that gets over like 20 kudos or more than a couple comments, tbh. I get so much pushback from fandom (anon and otherwise) about writing it that it's always weird to me if they do well in that way

6) Do you outline your fics? If so, how?

I do not usually - for a series, I'll make notes as I go so I don't Joss myself, and if there's a case (so basically, necromancer au and in death au lmaoo) I make notes about it, but usually I just have an idea - what if Thom Bordelau was a necromancer? What if Jack Eichel was a crime lord? What if Trevor Zegras was a werewolf? and on and on forever - and then I sit down and start writing it to see what happens. After a few hundred words I mostly know how I want it to end, and what happens to get there. But I don't outline it the way plotters generally do - I tried before, when I was still figuring out my process for writing, but when I do write done everything like that first I don't want to write it anymore because the story feels told to me then, and my brain's satisfied.

8) Do you take inspiration from real life? If so how do you incorporate it into your fics?

Yeah, some - I think to a certain extent every writer does, we can't help it. As for how it ends up in fics...I think it's mostly little things, like. Someone's favorite song or drink - large iced mocha, extra chocolate from DD baybee (Turcs fave btw) - the way they tilt their head to the side when they ask questions, how impatient they are with people sometimes.

I do bring a lot of sex/kink/bdsm experience to my fic, too, I think - not necessarily in the sense that I write everyone having the same kinks as me, but I've been around kink and dungeons almost my whole adult life so there's stuff I know how to write that I'm not always into, and it makes it easier to have seen it done irl, or know someone who's into whatever I'm writing.

It also means I get a lot of people poking at me, through their own fic or in my inbox, about stuff that I've written, but at least there's hardly any death threats any more, unlike when I first started writing bdsm AUs/fics 😂😂😂

14) What is something you wrote in a fic that you are hoping readers picked up on but you don't know if they did? And/or, what is something that you were excited that readers did pick up on?

Oh this is such a good question - there's a couple, really, one of which is in (take this) to your grave by the end of that fic John's a very specific kind of crazy, and I love when readers picked up on that ❤️❤️❤️ there's also a part in the godlings verse where it's explained why Auston always looks so cranky when he's in Toronto (it's because he's the son of Apollo and he loathes cold weather lol) and I love the couple people who picked up on it 💕💕💕

They start the third on a powerplay when Kassian crunches Mitch against the boards by the Leafs bench and Auston sees red when Mitch falls to the ice. There’s a scuffle after the hit and somehow Auston’s helmet ends up on the ice next to where Mitch is still hunched over on his knees, face against the ice and his hands over the back of his neck; his face twists in a grimace of pain and rage fills Auston, makes him turn his sights on Kassian, who backs up in confusion when Auston focuses on him

Ooohh, good choice, babe, this was one of my favorite scenes to write in the series so far ❤❤❤

So, I knew I wanted Auston to use his powers on-screen, not in a way that would, like, kill someone, but I did want it to be abundantly why Auston was so adamant about not using his powers and why he's spent his whole life learning to keep his temper under control.

I wasn't sure exactly how to set it up at first, because there's only a couple things that would set Auston off like that. His cousins, maybe, but it's hard to physically injure one of them badly enough that they stay down for more than a minute or two, and they don't get concussions at all; his human family was a possibility for about 2 seconds, lol, but that would have taken the series in a WAY different, and darker, direction than I wanted it to be.

Of course, it ended up being Mitch in the end, because Auston loves him desperately and in a way he never let himself love someone before. He's also human and delicate, comparatively speaking, and smaller than Auston and, even though I picked him after Mitch, Kassian. So once I settled on Mitch, the rest fall into place quickly.

Kassian was my own little present to myself, not gonna lie 🤣🤣🤣 I'm not a fan and I wanted Connor to show up, to provide....not balance to Auston, but maybe a reminder to Auston that he doesn't have to hide who he is all the time. So it worked out having them be in Edmonton for a game.

Jack- godlings series for the that scene

Oh, man, the scene for that fic is still super clear to me: Jack, as a toddler, sitting in the waves, laughing and happy, talking to the water the way all little kids seem to do (and I still do, if I'm honest 🤣🤣🤣), and the water talking back to him. Nothing else was there yet, not why he could understand the water, Auston or any of the others. Nothing except toddler Jack playing in the water and talking to it, not afraid of anything.

Most lakes are calm and easygoing; they speak measured and even, not in a rush for anything. Rivers babble a lot, in a rush to tell everything they know as fast as they can and hurry on to the next subject. Seas are always eager: eager to play and to destroy, just as happy to have fun as go to war, and their moods can turn on a dime. Ponds are always cheerful and happy to help; if Jack’s looking for something that happens to be near a pond, he knows about it almost immediately.

I wanted to put that in there because bodies of water do have moods and they can change fairly quickly, which is part of why so many humans are enchanted by them, imo.

This is all stuff Jack knows instinctively, it's in his DNA you could say 🤣🤣🤣 so once I wrote it out, I had to show it, in a way that was natural and didn't come across as out of place or off-putting, and I like to think I did that pretty successfully.

54. Favorite first line/opening you’ve written?

Ooohhh that's a good one! Let me think for a minute 🤔🤔🤔 I do like the opening for jack, "The sea isn’t like rivers and lakes back home,” Jack’s mom told him when he was small and it was almost impossible to keep him away from any kind of water. (I feel like I talk about this fic a lot, but I do really love it, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

I also really like the first sentence for got a secret (i can't tell), Hockey is relatively new in their family: they have cousins that play and uncles and Matt thinks possibly third and fourth cousins, but when taken in with the rest of their long family history, well.

The first time Charlie remembers talking to ghosts was the winter he turned five.

When he's older, his mom will tell him how he would lay in his bassinet and babble at shadows, content to stare at what she thought was just the wall or ceiling for hours.

But the first concrete memory he has of seeing and talking to someone no one else could was when he was playing in his front yard, shooting a toy puck at the side of the house.

He remembers someone suddenly being there and how he wasn't scared or upset by it, not even surprised.

hello, son of Hades, will you talk to me before i leave for your father's realm?

Even back then Charlie remembers thinking even dead people needed someone to talk to sometimes.

He wants to buy Brock new suits, ones with some color and a good cut that would make him look even better than he already does. Take him out to dinner, spoil him so he knows how much Elias wants him.

He's never looked at an alpha and thought mine. Never wondered how one would look with his collar around their neck.

But Brock is loud and brash, always flirting and touching Elias, like he can't help himself. Like maybe he wants what Elias wants. 

And Elias has never been one to deny himself things.

Sam grins and points his beer at Jeff. "It did not. Eichs has never liked being told what to do, doesn't matter really who's telling him. 

"Good thing Davo's never really cared about that kind of shit."

The waitress comes over to drop off two more beers and clean off the table; they both finish off their drinks and hand her the empties. Jeff watches in amusement when she flirts with Sam, trying to draw him out him by smiling and touching his arm while she finished clearing off the table; it stops being funny when she flashes her bare neck at him and Jeff has to bite back the possessive growl he wants to let out.

The waitress startles and gives Jeff an apologetic look before practically running away from their table; Jeff knows he should apologize for whatever his scent did that scared off someone Sam may have been interested in, but Sam doesn't seem mad or pissed off and his scent is quietly pleased, sunflowers over pine trees and snow, so Jeff just focuses on finishing his beer.

He hesitates for a second, clearly unsure what to grab because Brady is staggering around with both their gear bags, as well as a bookbag and duffel bag somehow strapped to his back and the look on Brady's face isn't friendly, despite the fact he knows neither one of them are trying to steal anything from him.

"Ah, I don't," Mittsy looks over his shoulder at Eichs, eyebrows raised, at a loss for what to do when faced with an exhausted, overprotective alpha.

Eichs takes stock of the situation quickly, before Matt has to jump in and coax Brady into being less of a knothead. "Go grab one of the carts over by the counter, Chucky can put everything on there and push it around without having the size of his knot questioned."

Brady looks torn between outrage and amusement, and Matt heaves a quiet sigh of relief when Brady grins at Eichs. "Be nice to me, I'm not at my best right now."

"When are you ever," Eichs snorts but it's the usual friendly disdain that he has for all the alphas he's friends with.
