that wild mane of his used to be a point of teasing in the past. he recalled vividly how his dearest companions mercilessly quipped about the mess it often was, that it surely had to get in the way when fighting and that he ought to invest more time in brushing it properly. needless to say, that hair of his had a way of defying most restraints, and he hardly found it all that messy to begin with, and so even centuries after those beloved friends of his faded from his life did it hardly look different than it used to.
it was, as such, no surprise that a handful of strands might be deemed entirely out of place, occasionally. what was, however, thoroughly unusual was that someone should deign to correct their placement.
as the vaguely familiar woman reached out and brushed back those stray hairs the general blinked, admittedly surprised by the gesture. after another moment or two, he then offered a loose smile, though a grateful one nonetheless.
