The littlest things can make Topaz so relaxed that it's easy to tell herself that her work is paying off. Numby and her other pets? That's a given for a long time ago. But even the smallest recognition from Jade? It's mind blowing to think that's placed higher than them. It's not even a high promotion nor has it ever been her interest. The fact that Jade herself brought the news to her means a lot more than what the IPC offers to her.

And don't even get me started with this one.

Topaz craving more freedom vs Topaz lessening the IPC's burdens are two interpretations that I do believe can co-exist. Topaz helps get rid of the IPC's troubles and hopes to gain more freedom in return to do however she pleases... That or maybe she is lowkey willing to be a wanted criminal if it means obtaining the freedom that she's been wanting.
