Klaviertober day 18: a piece by an underrated composer
Godowsky: Java suite
There are a lot of underrated composers who would deserve to be talked about, but during my musical studies I never heard about Godowsky. Java suite was one of my random YouTube recommendations. His style and the way he uses the piano are quite unique.
Leopold Godowsky | Étude no. 45 in E major after Chopin’s “Trois nouvelles études” no. 2 - 1st version
Marc-André Hamelin, piano
Godowsky: Passacaglia in B Minor - Antti Siirala
Chopin Etude Op. 10 No. 3 arr. Godowsky arr. marimba
Leopold Godowsky (1870 - 1938), Passacaglia in B minor after Schubert’s Unfinished 8th Symphony - Antti Siirala
B. Berezovsky plays Godowsky's "Alt Wien" (No. 11 from Triakontameron).
