he  didn’t  love  her .    somewhere  deep  inside ,   she  knew  that .    that  the  feelings  that  plagued  her  where  unrequited   (  she  was  a  distraction ,   a  bed  warmer .   nothing  more  ) .    ethereal ,   barely  a  ghost  to  him  now .    sprawled  between  silken  sheets ,   nails  dig  into  the  bed  ;  finding  herself  alone .    it  was  common ,   but  it  did  not  stop  the  ache  that  came  with  finding  the  bed  cold .

donning  herself  in  a  sheet ,   soft  fabric  pressing  against  tender  skin .    the  night  sky  hangs  over  them   &   gives  a  supple  bite  to  her  flesh .    bare  feet  patter  over  the  marble  flooring ,   the  ethereal  girl  following  his  shadow  to  the  balcony .    hands  trail  over  his  back ,   lips  pressing  to  his  shoulder blade  for  a  moment .
