Godrevy Lighthouse in the sun
Summer evenings at Godrevy, 2017
5/9/19-Godrevy
We firstly came to Godrevy today the lighthouse shown in the first picture in this photoset which was once again an area of outstanding natural coastal beauty. We took in many more great views on a walk around it some nice panoramic ones right up the coast too. I took the fifth, seventh, ninth and tenth pictures in this photoset of views today.
Before we could even get out of the car though I heard the gorgeous sound of a calling Chough. I got out and saw it flying over the car park, then it went down into some grass. We got beautiful views of it and our best chances to take pictures of a Chough stood still this holiday. I took the second and eighth pictures in this photoset of this bird. We got to see what a lovely ringed bird it was too.
This has undoubtably been one of the stars of our week and more than most reasons my desire to come to Cornwall this year was to see the Choughs in England. The Cornish Choughs have been such a delight to witness this week I have seen them at multiple locations on three days of the holiday so far and seen what really beautiful and special birds they are. They are one of my senior members of my favourite birds B list that I set up in March and I may do annual reviews of it then but right now it feels I will soon be asking the question again of should Chough be one of my favourite birds.
We saw one flying by the cliffs too and it appeared to mob a Fulmar in true crow fashion. We saw a Raven today too another highlight of the week and it made me think that I’ve seen both of these and Rook and Jackdaw very well this week but none of the two very common crows at home Carrion Crow and Magpie. So it’s just interesting being somewhere different and there being a different make up of certain birds. I shall miss the Cornish crows when I am home. I also saw the same Chough to the first one once we’d come back and got back to the car. The rocks at the start were also covered in Oystercatchers.
When we moved on a bit in the walk we had seen Grey Seals in the sea and we then saw a beach at least half covered with them. At this point I took the third picture in this photoset of a lovely Kestrel on the cliffs. It was really interesting to hear the seals and see them moving about a lot especially by the sea. They were at the stage of preparation for their breeding season. We had not been to a place like this in September before so had never really witnessed this aspect of these seal’s breeding which was great to see. I took the fourth and sixth pictures in this photoset of the seal colony. It was good to see a few Turnstones in amongst them on the beach as well.
Another very impressive place this week with the views and the brilliant wildlife, probably my best wildlife photography part of the holiday too. It was nice to have a brief look on Hayle estuary on the way to and back from Godrevy seeing some Black-tailed Godwits.
Wildlife Sightings Summary at Godrevy and the nearby rock pool: Two of my favourite birds the Fulmar and Gannet with some of the latter diving, one of my favourite mammals the Grey Seal, Chough, Raven, Kestrel, Stonechat, Wheatear, Rock Pipit, Pied Wagtail, Herring Gull, Great Black Backed Gull, Oystercatcher, Turnstone, Little Grebe, Mute Swan, Canada Goose and Shag.

✱🖤🎄🖤✱ Finished off 2019 with a couple of fun ones including this lil doggy on the beach for Danielle! Thank you so much for such a lovely piece to end another year of living the dream! (Any Cornish folk recognise this place?) . 🙏🏻 Feeling so so lucky this time of year is always full of thanks and gratitude and just humble appreciation for everyone who makes it possible for me. Every single client who’s sat in my chair and everyone who sends support and kind words about my work and to my lovely friends and fam and studio fam who have listened to my wobbles along the way, THANK YOU 🖤 . . . I would love to work on some more of my own artwork and new projects next year to progress and build my portfolio 👏🏻 This industry is amazingly saturated with some bloody incredible talent and in 2019 I’m hoping to make more weird and wonderful pieces that I feel reflect me as an artist more and push ideas of what tattoos can be. Always up for chatting about new ideas and projects and if anyone would be up for giving me some skin to go free reign with I am all ears, send me all your weirds and I’ll see you in 2019! 💌🙏🏻🖤 . . . Merry merry merry Christmas and a happy new year! Can’t wait for a Christmas stroll along the beach 👏🏻 Lots of warm mulled spiced Christmas love to everyone! 🍷🍷🍷🍻🍻🍻🖤🖤🖤#merrychristmas #tattoo #beach #godrevy #lighthouse #dog #nature #blackandgrey #tttism #btattooing #uktta #tattoosnob #blackworkers #blackworkerssubmission #TAOT #skinandink #tattrx #blxckink #blxckwork #darkartists #inkjecta #inkedmag #skinartmag #theycamewithroses #minimaltats #ladytattooers #illustration #remynurse #atelierfour https://www.instagram.com/rrrrrremy/p/BrunO6WHjgB/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=rs8ng85f0xva
