Godscobh Task #02 — P’s Style
In one word, P’s style is improvised.
Warm Weather: As a penniless young man who relies on the kindness of others and his own ingenuity to survive, P is severely limited in what he can do when it comes to curating his own sense of style — but that does not stop him from allowing himself the freedom to experiment with what little he does own when the weather is warm enough to permit it. One day, perhaps, he will wear a ragged hoodie and a pair of old shorts. The next, a worn flannel shirt and someone’s ripped shirt he salvaged. It may not be much, but he does make a conscious effort to make himself appear as presentable and put-together as he can be. Cold Weather: As the seasons pass and the weather begins to turn colder, any thought of style becomes secondary to the thought of survival. The elements are harsh on someone who lives a life as exposed as his own and, as such, he will layer on as many clothes as he has in his possession at any given time so as to keep himself warm. T-shirts beneath sweaters beneath hoodies beneath flannels beneath jackets of all kinds. Pairs of pants on top of pairs of pants. Beanies and scarves and gloves and socks — ripped and full of holes as though they may be — to insulate his extremities against the bitter cold, and the warmest, sturdiest set of shoes he can get his hands on. Extra — Someone’s Memory: A collection of bespoke suits in various colors. A sophisticated European boarding school’s uniform. Rich hand-knit wool vests and sweaters, imported name-brand shirts, tailored pants and expensive suede loafers. These were the clothes of a boy of refined tastes and affluent means — A boy for whom nothing less than the best of the best would do. A boy who possessed more wealth than sense. A boy who had thought himself invincible. When the boy was lost forever, these precious few belongings were all that remained of him. The memories of a young life tragically cut short.
