Godzilla anatomy... Funny
Heisei era, for clarity’s sake. It’s screechy kinda like a cockatiel when he’s tiny, full size it’s more of a metallic honking.
This is the “mommy” chirp Godzilla does at Reiko in the Shrinking Project fanfic I’m working on. He does it a few times in a row if he’s excited to see her. It’s like “Mommy! Hi! Hi, mommy! Mommy’s here! Hi mommy!”
It’s a mix of how a dog gets excited to see their owner come home and a full-grown cat going into kitten mode while being taken care of, petted, fed, etc.
In my headcanon Godzilla has a syrinx like birds for vocalization, which allows him to make such an array of sounds at seemingly impossible pitches for a creature of his size (when he’s full sized). A lot of his vocalizations are above or below the human threshold for hearing.
Godzilla thinks humans are deaf after figuring out they only respond to an extremely limited range of his vocal frequencies, so he actually modifies his vocalizations to fall into narrow human hearing ranges.
Anyway...
He chirps with his mouth shut to resonate the sound through his his chest, throat and nose. He can do it loudly or quietly. It tends to be LOUD when he’s excited.
