I have seen some critical Shin Godizilla videos. It’s interesting seeing the back and forth between Shin Godzilla fans and Shin Godzilla critics. Interesting points are made but at times I feel like Shin Godzilla fans project what they want to see onto the film rather than seeing it for what it is. They confuse that with depth. For example, I remember seeing a Shin Godzilla fan in a YouTube comment saying Godzilla coming to land was like a salmon returning to the place they were born in. This is blatantly false because in the movie it’s a complete mystery why Godzilla even shows up. The only clue we get is the song Who Will Know which is from Godzilla’s perspective which shows that he wants to die but his anatomy won’t allow him to. Overall, it’s a trend amongst some Shin Godzilla fans I’ve noticed over the past years. And it can get kind of annoying.
