Godzilla full moon 🌕
Shishi-iwa rock, Kumano, Japan.
Day 2- Oga Penisula, Akita Prefecture
The day ended at Godzilla Rock and a nearby beach. The currents in the Sea of Japan come up and across from the Southwest, meaning that detritus from everywhere from the Philippines to Russia ends up on these rocky shores! Luckily, carefully constructed rock barriers made my nighttime swim trash-free.
The Sea of Japan, in early May, is still warmer than the Washington Coast in August.
Check out that salt-tolerant(?) fern in the rock cleft.
