Hey everyone! I figured I should give another update as to inform everyone to where things are at currently.

I have good news to share, currently we are finally caught up on our rent! Everyone who donated and shared helped so much to make this happen and I seriously couldn’t have been more grateful to the people who were kind enough to us.

Things are still a struggle, but we’re really trying our best to hold our own in our new home. It’s been such a crazy ride so far, way more than I was expecting for sure when we moved! I don’t regret it for a single moment though. Because we made this choice my partner and I are able to actually live our lives and take the next step towards our future. I’ve seen and experienced so many new things I wouldn’t have if I didn’t move here, and for that I’m so thankful.

That being said we are still partially behind- mainly on our bills and getting essential things from storage to us. As for the crash thankfully we have transit to get where we need to go and although I’m definitely more anxious in vehicles I’m not going to let that stop me from driving. I may not be able to for a while since my car is totaled (and my license is suspended until I get insurance oough), but that’s not stopping me from doing what I have to do to get by and provide for us!

The only reason I’m posting this out again is because we’re currently trying to raise some funds to afford our bills and as well as get my little chihuahua Jemi registered into a veterinary so we can get pet insurance for her. She currently has a lump on her left rib that I’m pretty positive is a lipoma, but it keeps growing and it’s definitely made me concerned that it could be something else. It doesn’t seem to bother her, but I’d rather be safe than sorry!

There’s an image of the actual lump at the bottom of this post but trigger warning if you don’t like seeing tumors!

Any advice on possible assistance programs or low income vet services would be greatly appreciated. Since we’ve gotten caught up on rent this past month I’ve really wanted to steer away from asking people for money if at all possible. Everyone goes through struggles, especially financially in this country- so I really would like to avoid taking more from others if I can.

I know everyone who’s donated thus far chose to do so, and I understand it’s okay to ask for help. When it comes to money I know how hard people have to work to earn those funds so that they can have the same financial stability that I’m also struggling to grasp. So being generously given that thing that people always have to struggle for just to survive makes me question whether I deserve that amount of kindness from..well, anyone.

I’ve been told the best way to pay someone back for such kindness and generosity is to pay it forward to someone else who needs it. However that may be, through money or through some other means, I want to give that. Once I’m able I’ll put together a Caard page or something of the like for a portfolio I’ll have a link to fundraisers for supporting artists and other groups who are also in need right now!

As tough as today has been with the sudden passing of my Tobias.. @christ-chan-official and I were hit with the news that the US Embassy in Montreal is ready to proceed with the final steps of my visa application. Though this is good news that ultimately leads to either a denial or HOPEFULLY approval of my visa application, there's a lot of stress that comes with it. We are humbly asking that if anyone would like to read our update on the situation and would like to contribute in helping us with costs of travel, stay etc. as I have to attend 2 separate appointments in Montreal within the next month and a half (this means multiple trips to the airport and back that's 3.5 hours away, 2 round-trip flights, 2 nights in Montreal, the cost of the medical exam etc) we would greatly appreciate it.

Any donations that were given in the past have been solely used and saved towards expenses for the visa process. We still have enough to hopefully cover the medical exam but as you can see this is just one expense of many.

We want to add that we are confident that if they approve the visa we will be able to financially support ourselves once I move to the States, but having a bit of a boost to get us there would be beyond a blessing. We appreciate any little bit that is donated and want to thank everyone for all their prayers and support!

Hey! This is Zoro coming with an update about my health as quite a few things have happened the past couple of months. As some may know, I've been dealing with chronic pain and illness since February of last year as mentioned in this post here.

A quick summary of it was that I have been dealing with constant bladder and stomach problems suddenly that were disrupting day to day life as they were painful and constant. Despite the multiple hospital visits, nothing was really done and at the time I could only wait to see certain specialists (which required a lot of money to see). Recently however, I finally got an answer to what was causing me pain in one part of my stomach! The culprit was my gallbladder and it has been removed!

The rest of the post will be caught off so for those who want to read in more detail, but one issue has been solved (at least i hope so)!

I also want to note here and thank everyone who's been supportive of me during this rough patch in my life. I also want to thank those who sent money for the GoFundMe! However, due to a few circumstances which will also be explained in the read more section, I will be refunding it all to those who donated.

TLDR version of my reason is that I was advise to do so for the eligibility medical/financial benefits I've been looking into. The refunds should be sent in about a week, so keep and eye out!

For what was causing me pain in my stomach, or at least one of the reasons:

Turns out I had gallstones that somehow CT scans and ultrasounds didn't pick up last year, despite the pain and discomfort I was in from them. It got to the point where the pain was so unbearable, I was crying for about 2-3 hours before going to the ER. They found one stone had thicken walls through the ultrasounds and my gallbladder was infected from these stones.

Because of the findings, I underwent surgery to completely remove it during my stay in the hospital. I am now close to two weeks post-op and so far it has relieved most, if not all, of the constant pain I've been in my upper right. While I still have issues elsewhere in my body, it feels nice to have one issue solved. I just hope I don't need another trip to the ER anytime soon.

As for the detailed explanation for refunding the GoFundMe donations:

A few months back I after the go found me, I was accepted in a financial assistance program that made doctor's visits way cheaper. From close to hundreds of dollars to 3 dollars, that was way more an affordable price range for me. Despite that, i kept the donations on hold just in cause anything changed or something wasn't covered by the program until now.

Along with that, I've been applying for disability as I am considered disabled by my psychiatrist due to my mental health. After talking to a few folks who knew about the system, they mentioned that the money from the fundraiser could harm the process in gaining these benefits. Their recommended course of action was to refund the money as a precaution, so I'm following their advice. After the refunds have gone through, I will be closing the fundraiser.

Again, I want to give a massive thank you everyone in general who have supported me through all this. Its been difficult, especially since I had to accommodate to the pain and changes in my body. There has been MANY ups and for sure downs, but I'm still holding on!

GOFUNDME GOAL REACHED!

As of today we finally met our goal on Bear’s GoFundMe, thanks to one last and very generous donation, from an amazingly kind person (you know who you are!)

I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who donated, reblogged my post, and had a supportive word to offer for Bear. i know most of you were tired of seeing me bring it up (i lost so many followers) those of you who were patient and stuck with me despite my spamming, i want you to know that i appreciate you. i really mean it, i know how annoying it can be to be spammed with the same post day in and day out, but you guys stuck with me and were so supportive, and i can’t express enough how much that means to me. 

I’ve mentioned it before and in my update on the GoFundMe page, Bear is doing great! This Monday we took him to the vet for the final phase of his treatment, and hopefully on Friday we’ll be able to bring him home! we’ll have to keep him comfortable and relaxed for the next few weeks, and by then he is expected to make a full recovery!

Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart, you guys are awesome, and we truly couldn’t have done it without your help. ;-;

Current update/timeline on the medical situation with Spooky!

Check out the Gofundme at the bottom of this post if you want the context! Also, I'm sorry for not sharing regular updates! This situation has been absolutely chaotic ngl.

Friday: Spooky, our cat, was spotted having difficulties using the litter box around 7pm, with straining, panting, excessive grooming, and other unusual behavior. Took him to the first vet hospital, triage found it was a urinary block preventing him from peeing, and we got quoted $700 for a bare minimum treatment that carried a significant risk of this reoccurring.

My mom and I both attempted to apply for CareCredit and Scratch, however both were denied due to a lack of sustainable income. Cherry approved $100 for a second hospital, IVS, but it's redeemable for IVS only, and it's essentially a loan that must be paid back in 6 weeks. The only other option recommended to us (and unnecessarily pushed imo) was euthanasia. This is when we started crowdfunding, and we ultimately decided to take him home and monitor until clinics opened back up the next day.

Saturday: We went to IVS early in the morning due to him showing symptoms that seemed concerning. We were quoted the same $700 price for the same bare minimum treatment with the same risks, but we were told that he at least seemed stable for the time being. Around this time, some of my friends started waking up, and they absolutely came in clutch to help get the rest of the funds (it was obvious that the gofundme wasn't going too far too fast, and we tried to withdraw the gofundme money early, but it took 3 days for the transfer to process). I did promise to pay them back, so I do now owe them a few hundred dollars. (they're being so kind and telling me not to worry about it, but I would feel so bad if I didn't. Just telling them how thankful I've been hasn't been enough; I need to SHOW them, y'know?)

Once we got the funds, the vet recommend that we actually call around and see if other clinics would be able to give better treatment with that money. However, we quickly found that it was going to be too difficult to find a clinic nearby that didn't close early, had the ability to do surgery on the weekends, AND could offer full treatment within our budget. With that in mind, we decided to double down and get the bare minimum treatment at IVS. Murphy's Law kicked our ass a bit more when it came time to actually pay, but we eventually figured everything out and Spooky was finally home. Though this left us absolutely flat broke; literal cents to our names.

Sunday: Rest and recovery for everyone. Monitored Spooky, he was urinating without concerning symptoms (yippee!!!)

Monday: Reached out to a humane society that could give a urinalysis for $25, which will tell us what's wrong and how to treat it. More recovery, a brief scare with our electricity getting shut off without proper warning (we got it back on but now that's due on the 14th, which is just lovely), and us hustling to scrape together the money for that urinalysis. Had a couple minor scares with Spooky, but thankfully they were false alarms and he was still urinating just fine. It was likely just from pain medicine wearing off, and him being absolutely exhausted. (None of us have been getting much sleep tbh lol)

Tuesday (today): Gofundme money finally came through. Took Spooky to get that urinalysis. It seems that everything's looking good now, his kidneys are working well, and it seems the problem likely wasn't UTI related. We're currently awaiting a more detailed analysis that'll help determine if he would need to be put on a prescription diet to prevent this from happening again.

So... what's next?

Well, now we are just playing the waiting game, as the full urinalysis results will tell us exactly what we need to do next. We expect to hear about that later today, or tomorrow. It's still possible Spooky could have a UTI that requires antibiotics, or it's possible that he has a urine formulation that makes him prone to these kinds of issues, which would require him to be on a prescription diet for the rest of his life. If either of those things end up being the case, whatever other Gofundme money we get will be put towards buying that for him. Otherwise, anything else left over will be put towards other pet care supplies, like litter, and normal food for our other cat. (We are completely out of litter and currently looking at reaching out to a charity that could provide us some).

Though the urgent part of this now seems to be over, the situation as a whole is not resolved just yet, and we are still just barely clinging on financially speaking. Like one little gust of wind and everything might come crumbling down. We are currently searching for a more sustainable income, and will be keeping the Gofundme active for now. It will be linked at the bottom of this post, and you are welcome to donate and/or continue to spread it around. The extra money will help soften this financial blow, and provide much needed support in helping us get back to something a bit more stable.

I know me and my mom have said this plenty of times already, and I know this is gonna be cheesy, but sincerely from the bottom of our hearts, thank you. I seriously will never be able to fully communicate the sheer amount of gratitude I felt with each new donation I saw, and each time I heard someone tell me that they were sharing the link around. I seriously wish I could realistically make something and send it out to every single one of you that helped in any capacity. All of your generosity and kindness will be cherished and never forgotten, I promise you that.
