Why Polarized?
The science behind the goggles. Why your eyes need polarized on the slopes.
The problem:
1. Glare
Reflected light traveling in a horizontal direction can cause what we call glare. Glare dulls color, blurs detail and fatigues your eyes. When skiing, snowboarding, or snowmobiling, no one wants glare in their eyes, hindering the ability to shred.
2. Eye damage
Did you know light reflects off snow up to 3x more than grass, asphalt and surf?
Grass 2-5% reflected Asphalt 4-9% reflected Surf 25-30% reflected Snow 88% reflected
Altitude, latitude, clouds and haze all contribute to varying intensities of sunlight. With increasing altitude, UV levels are increased by approximately 10% every 1,000 meters.
Harmful UV and HEV light, the leading causes of macular degeneration, are heavily reflected off snow and can cause serious long-term eye damage.
The solution:
Our Japanese polarized lenses cut glare, allowing you to see better. With heightened color, definition and detail, you’ll be seeing more of the mountain with clarity.
On top of that, our polarized lenses are designed to block 100% of UVA/B/C rays and 95% of HEV light. This reduces eye fatigue and lowers the risk of long term eye damage.
To sum it up, POLARIZED = Clarity + Protection.
