Author Notes: Welcome to the second chapter of 'Going University'! Thank you for reading and keeping up with the story so far! I did put the meanings of some of their names not only for new Carats, but for myself as well (Even I didn't know a few of them, to be honest 😅). Please leave your thoughts on the chapter in the comments below!
Wonwoo's POV
I'm sitting with Seungcheol and the other guys in our friend group, scattered everywhere around the dorm room doing something different. Some are in the kitchen cooking, some are on the game, and some are on the couch having their own conversations.
Then Soonyoung suddenly asks me, “Hey Woo, you never talk about your sister much. What’s she like?” And everyone suddenly starts going quiet after hearing his question.
“Yeah, what’s she like, hyung? We all wanna know!” Dokyeom says as everyone starts gathering around me. “You said she was starting this semester and we don’t know anything about her other than the fact that she’s younger than you.”
I deeply sigh and bury my face into my hands, already knowing there’s no getting out of this.
“Guys, do we really have to do this now?” I say before getting a text from her. “Perfect timing, sis...” I mumble to myself quietly.
“Oh, is that her?” “What did she say?” “What does she want?” “What does she look like?” I hear all around me as I text her back.
“Yah!” I yell loudly, instantly shutting everyone up. They know I never really yell unless I’m really upset or frustrated. “Y’all better calm the fuck down or I’ll tell her to go back to her dorm and not come over. Got it?”
“Yes...” I hear them all mumble before we all hear a knock at the door.
“I’ll get it...” Seungcheol says before he gets up and walks to the door then opens it.
As soon as I hear the door open, I hear “What the fuck are you doing here?”
“What’s going on?” I ask confused, starting to stand up and walk up behind Seungcheol.
“This bitch really is following me...” He mumbles loudly and rolls his eyes before I see who’s on the other side of the door.
“What the fuck are you talking about? Move out the fucking way...” She says before shoving him out the way and sees me a few feet away from Cheol. “Weenie!” I hear her say before running to me with her arms open.
I chuckle and open my arms, pulling her into a hug when she gets close. “So much more enthusiasm than earlier... I guess that cat nap really helped.” She groans exasperatedly, and I already know she rolled her eyes.
“Oh, shut up Weenie... Just be glad I’m giving you this much enthusiasm...” She mumbles into my chest.
“What is that douchebag doing here anyways?” She grumbles as we let go, side eyeing him as she lets me go.
“You little-” Cheol starts, visibly and audibly frustrated before I cut him off.
“Don’t start, Cheol.”
“But I didn’t-”
“Don’t.” I turn to glare at Cheol, giving him a ‘cut it out’ look before asking them a question while crossing my arms. “What’s going on between you two? Do yall know each other?”
“She’s the girl I was telling you about earlier...” Cheol says, still visibly frustrated.
Y/n’s POV
“Aww, you talked about me? How cute.” I said while fake pouting and placing a hand on my chest while wiping an imaginary tear from my eyes, making him roll his eyes with an exasperated look and cross his arms. Not gonna lie, he looked so hot doing that. Wait, I’m supposed to hate him. Back to the program, Y/n!
“Now what really happened was that we ran into each other outside in the quad on accident, then we happened to get to the elevators at the same time, and then assumed I was ‘following him’ as we got off the same floor.” I say while crossing my arms and rolling my eyes. “Technically I should be the frustrated one, but I’m assuming someone hasn’t had their cat nap today.” I say with a condescending smile.
Wonwoo turns to him with an ‘are you serious?’ look. “Really, Cheol? You’ve had worse instances and it wasn’t even close to this.”
“I know, but-”
“Don’t even try it, Cheol. Close the door and go back to the couch. I need to talk to her for a second.” Wonwoo sighs deeply before pinching the bridge of his nose and contemplating his life decisions.
He sighs before walking over to where the couch is, then I realize just how many other guys are in here. “Um, why are there so many people here?” I ask while counting the 12 guys sitting on or around the couch staring at Wonwoo and I.
“They’re all my friends, some are also my teammates. They’re just very...”
“Curious? Nosey?”
“Yeah, both.” He chuckles softly before asking, “Are you ready to meet them? They can be a handful. Arguably worse than those triplets and their siblings you’d babysit, in my opinion.”
I chuckle before nodding my head. “Yeah, I’m ready.”
We then start walking over to the couch and stand in front of the tv, and I unconsciously stand slightly behind Wonwoo since I’m unfamiliar with them all.
“Alright guys,” Wonwoo starts while looking at them all. “This is my sister, Y/n. Don’t overwhelm her too much, she can get very overstimulated very quickly. And yes, I’m talking about you Seokmin, Soonyoung, and Seungkwan. Go easy on her, okay?” I instantly understand what Wonwoo said when he was talking about the triplets when I hear three guys groan and instantly start whining like babies.
“Aww, but hyung...” I hear one of them say.
“No buts you three. I already know how you three go, so go easy. Got it?” I then hear the same three guys grumble yes.
“Hello, my name is Y/n, and I’m a first year interior design major...” I say shyly before Wonwoo continues.
“I want everyone to introduce themselves to her starting from this side of the couch, starting with Jihoon.” He points towards one of the guys standing by the left side of the couch, noticeably paler and shorter than everyone else.
“I’m Jihoon, but they call me Woozi. I’m a fourth year music production major, and Wonwoo’s friend and roommate.”
“Can I ask why they call you Woozi?” I ask curiously.
“It’s short for 우리 지훈 (u-ri Ji-hoon)”
“Oh, that’s cute!” I say before he shyly scratches the back of his head. Then one of the three musketeers (that’s what I decided to call the three) starts introducing himself.
“My name is Soonyoung, but they call me Hoshi. I’m a fifth year dance studies major and Wonwoo’s roommate and friend.”
“Why do they call you Hoshi?” I ask him curiously, making everyone either chuckle or sigh.
“호랑이의 시선! (Ho-rang-i-e si-seon = Tiger’s gaze)” he exclaims while squishing his face and making tiger claws with his hands, making me giggle.
“Are you sure? You look more like a hamster to me.” I say, making him gasp exasperatedly.
“I am not a hamster, I’m a tiger!” He says with a betrayed expression.
“I’m assuming he does this every time?”
“Yes.” They all say, making me giggle as he groans in mock agony.
“He never lets this go, doesn’t he?”
“Nope.” They all say in unison, clearly tired of Soonyoung’s bullshit.
Everyone else introduces themselves and I learn the other two musketeers are Seungkwan, a third year fine arts major (with a minor in journalism) and Seokmin, who’s also a fine arts major, with his nickname being Dokyeom for some reason.
“Why’s your nickname another name?” I ask, confused.
“Do refers to a path, and Kyeom means to multitask. It represents my goal to be a multi-talented artist in the future. You can also call me DK for short.”
I nod my head in understanding. “That’s amazing. I bet you get that question a lot.” I chuckle softly as he nods his head.
“Hello, my name is Chan, but you can call me Dino. I’m Wonwoo’s friend and roommate, and I’m a second year dance studies major. And before you ask, I wanted my dancer name to be Dino so I can control and dominate a stage like a dinosaur.” I chuckle softly at his dancer name.
“Aww, so cute!” I say before he starts getting a little defensive.
“It’s not cute, it’s cool!”
“It’s cute to me.” I chuckle at his reaction.
“In my experience, just give up, Chan.” Wonwoo says to him, already knowing I won’t budge.
“Fine...” He grumbles before crossing his arms and starting to sulk quietly. I wanted to say something, but stopped myself from making him feel worse.
Then the last person was the very person that had a problem with me for no reason.
“My name is Seungcheol, but only they get to call me S.Coups. I’m his friend and roommate, the soccer team captain, and fifth year interior design major with a minor in physical training.” He says, still frustrated somehow like he’s throwing a slight tantrum.
“Why’s your nickname S.Coups?”
“S for Seungcheol, Coups for ‘coup d'état’. Happy?” He grumbles.
“Very.” I say back, now knowing everyone’s names.
“I do wanna let you guys know that I am kind of bad at names, but I do remember faces. So please forgive me if I get your name wrong and maybe help me out so I can put the faces with the names.” They all say variations of yeses before someone mentions food, making me realize I haven’t eaten since lunch time.
“Have you eaten yet?” Wonwoo asks me, then I shake my head.
“I forgot to eat...”
“Don’t worry!” The taller guy stands up enthusiastically. I think his name was Mingyu. “I can make us all some ramen.”
Wonwoo nods before adding, “And you can ask your roommates to come too, if you want. No pressure.”
“Yeah, I can ask them. Can I go grab them? I realized I forgot to add their numbers to my phone.”
“Sure, go ahead. Text me when you’re there and on your way back over.”
“Alright. I’ll be back in about 5 minutes.” I say before waving to everyone and closing the dorm room door.
Wonwoo’s POV
After Y/n walks out the door to grab her roommates, I turn to the others. “So what do y’all think about her?” As soon as that question leaves my mouth, the guys all perk up excitedly.
“Hyung, you didn’t tell us she was so pretty!” Chan says excitedly.
“Yeah, I can see where all the good genes went.” Jeonghan says with his arms crossed and a cheeky grin on his face, making Wonwoo roll his eyes.
“I really like her, hyung!” “Me, too!” Seokmin and Seungkwan say excitedly as everyone starts talking about how pretty and nice she is. I get a text from her letting me know that she made it to her dorm, and I like the message so she knows I saw the message. When I put my phone back, I noticed Seungcheol not saying anything.
“Cheol hyung, what do you think about her?” I ask him curiously.
“She’s okay, I guess...” He mumbles before standing up. “I’m going to my room. Let me know when the food is ready.” He doesn’t give us any room for discussion before he starts walking to his room.
“What is up with him?” I silently mumble to myself when I get another message from Y/n.
Y/n: The girls want to come over for dinner Y/n: Could you tell them to go ahead and start dinner? Y/n: We’re gonna get drinks from the store real quick Me: Yeah, that’s fine Me: Make sure yall be careful, alright? Y/n: Alright. Any drinks the boys want in particular?
“Y/n’s gonna go to the store real quick with the girls. Is there anything in particular y'all want? Come up with a decision in the next 15 seconds or I’ll tell her to get whatever.”
The boys quickly come to a few decisions for drinks and I send her the list and counts and I tell them to start cooking before realising I never asked Seungcheol what he wanted. I quickly get to his door and knock. “Hyung, the girls are going across the street to get some drinks. Did you want anything?”
“No, I’m fine.” He says, a little frustration slipping through without knowing.
“Are you okay, hyung? You never really act like this, and I’m starting to get a bit worried.”
“I’m fine, I just need a minute. Just go ahead with the guys. Let me know when the food is ready.”
“Alright...” I say, slowly turning around and walking back into the living room. “What’s going on with him..?” I quietly mumble to myself.
Seungcheol’s POV
Why am I acting like this? I never act like this with anyone, and it’s pissing me off. She started pissing me off on purpose, I know it. But why can’t I look away from her?
The fact that I’m thinking about all of this is pissing me off even more. I think I need a quick nap. Maybe that’ll help me calm down. Hopefully it’ll calm me down...
Y/n’s POV
The girls make sure they have their dorm keys, phones, and wallets as we start putting on our shoes, walking out the door, and walking to the elevators. I let him know that we’re on the way to the convenience store and waiting on the elevator. I got a text from Wonwoo with the list of drinks to get from the convenience store across the street. As soon as I like the message, I hear a door opening and closing and frantic footsteps. I turn and see Wonwoo with his card in hand.
“Here, use my card. You can get whatever you want, and don’t worry about paying me back. The boys tend to get a lot of drinks.” He chuckles as he hands me his card.
I grab his card while asking “Are you sure? I can pay for it.”
He nods his head. “I’m sure. Go ahead, and text me when you’re on your way back.”
“Alright. I’ll see you in a bit.” I say as the elevator opens. He waves with his free hand in his pocket.
We all walk into the elevator as the girls are still conversing on their own. As soon as the elevator door closes, I get hit with a bunch of questions from the girls.
“So how was it?” “Who did you all meet?” “What happened?”
I chuckle at all the questions. “Girls calm down. I’ll tell you in a second. I don’t wanna talk about it in the dorm building.”
They all nod their heads as the elevator reaches the ground floor. We walk out the elevator and walk out the building towards the convenience store across the street.
“They were all really nice and chaotic at the same time. But I think I can handle them all. In a way, they’re like big little babies.” I say while chuckling to myself. We walk into the convenience store and I pull up Wonwoo’s list of drinks from the guys.
“Alright. We need 8 Colas, 8 Sprites, and 8 Fantas. Y'all can get whatever drinks you want, since Wonwoo is paying.” As the girls split off, we all get everything in a basket plus everything else we wanted to grab.
As I’m walking around, I realize if I do the math in my head, only 12 people get two drinks, not 13. I quickly text Wonwoo at the thought.
Me: Hey, I just realized one person doesn’t get anything Me: Did they want something? Wonwoo: It was Seungcheol hyung Wonwoo: He said he didn’t want anything, but you can grab whatever if you want Me: Alright, I’ll grab something
I go to grab two of my favorite strawberry lemonade drinks and put it in the basket. After making sure everyone grabs something, we checkout at the register and start walking back to the dorm building with our hands full of bags.
In the corner of my eye, I see a very familiar vehicle around the corner. I couldn’t figure out why it seemed familiar, so I brushed it off as my gut tells me not to investigate it further.
The girls and I walk back into the building while chatting about random things about ourselves. I text Wonwoo to let him know we just walked back into the building and waiting for the elevator to come back down. When he likes my message, we get into the elevator and get to our floor.
As soon as the elevator opens, I see Wonwoo along with I think it was Jihoon and Mingyu. They help us with the bags as we walk to Wonwoo’s dorm. Everyone is doing their own things all over the living room and the kitchen areas. As the bags are set down, everyone introduces themselves to each other while passing the drinks to everyone.
I then grab one of the strawberry lemonade drinks and ask Wonwoo where Seungcheol is. He points me to where the room is and I start walking towards the room. I stop in front of the door and take a deep breath before knocking on the door softly. “Seungcheol? Are you there?”
“Yeah, one sec...” He groans deeply. He must’ve taken a nap. A couple moments later, I hear footsteps and the door opens. I’m met with a messy-haired puffy Seungcheol who definitely took a nap when I was gone. God, why does he look so hot like this?
“What do you want?” He asks, snapping me out of my daze.
“O-oh, I got you a drink from the convenience store...” I say while holding out the drink to him. “The ramen is also ready whenever you’re ready.”
He grabs the drink from my hands and looks at the bottle before looking back at me. “Why this drink?”
I tilt my head in confusion. “What do you mean? I didn’t want you without a drink, so I got you one of my favorite drinks. You don’t have to drink it if you don’t want to.”
I try to grab the drink back from his hand and he pulls it away from me. “I never said I wasn’t going to drink it. Thank you for the drink.”
“You’re welcome. Just come out whenever you’re ready.” I say while turning around and walking away.
When I get back to the living room area, I finally hear the room door close back behind me.
“Hey, you okay?” Somi asks me with a slight smirk on her face as she walks up to me.
“Yeah, why?” I ask confused as I tilt my head.
“Your face is red.” She says with a chuckle, making my eyes widen and my hands immediately cover my cheeks.
“No it’s not!” I say, more like telling myself than her. Then I hear Seungcheol coming out of his room and walking into the living room. Then, without realizing, I watch him sit on the couch with the drink I gave him in my hand as my face slowly gets redder by the second.
“Yeah right.” She giggles and starts walking away to the other girls, most likely telling them what’s happening. I stand there frozen like a deer in headlights as my eyes widen, seeing him look directly at me. I quickly look away from him and sit with the girls, trying not to look into his direction as Mingyu brings the pot of ramen to the coffee table.
Seungcheol’s POV
As Mingyu brings the pot of ramen to the coffee table, I notice Y/n constantly glancing at me. I pretend not to notice by talking to the other members, but my eyes always somehow trail back to her. I’m not even sure why I’m even looking at her, or why her eyes are sparkling, or how her smile is gorgeous, or-
Wait, what am I thinking? I’m supposed to hate her, despise her. But why am I looking at her as if she’s the most amazing, gorgeous, beautiful- wait. Gosh Seungcheol, get it together! You’re acting like you’ve never met a woman before.
She got me my favorite drink by chance and all of a sudden I can’t control myself. Great, Seungcheol. Just great.
Wonwoo’s POV
After Y/n walked back into the living room from giving Cheol his drink, I noticed her face being redder than usual. I should’ve known something was up, but I mentally brushed it away. But then I noticed them stealing glances and trying to look away from each other basically the whole dinner. That’s when my radar started going off.
Something weird is happening between the two, and I’m not sure how I feel about that. I just don't want my little sister to get hurt again like the last time. If Cheol does something to her... I don't know how I'd react... But what I do know for sure?
Our friendship would definitely end.
