Thank you @porkcutletbowltrash for tagging me – it really took me down memory lane and now I’m tingling from the nostalgia (in a good way ^.^)
1. First things first, what is your MBTI type?
2. When did you learn to read?
According to my parents, I randomly picked up the newspaper off the table while my father was having breakfast and started reading the headlines. At two and a half years old. So I guess since then :P
3. What languages can you read in?
English and French, with French being okay enough for magazines and articles but not enough for a novel. I’m hoping that this time next year I’ll have more languages in my arsenal.
4. What book are you currently reading or most recently read?
Quite a few going on currently, which is a practice I dislike but can’t help at the moment. For now it’s a collection of Katherine Mansfield’s works, Memoirs of a Midget by Walter de la Mare and Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy.
5. Name 3 books you never finished.
Hmm… Long Walk to Freedom by Nelson Mandela is one, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen is another and Inferno by Dan Brown is the third. Inferno I had to leave midway due to circumstances and never got back to it, but I’ll have a chance to catch up soon. The first one might just take me my whole life to finish, I’ve never been good with non-fiction. As for Pride and Prejudice, I might be one of the few people on this planet who doesn’t like the story at all – to the point where I couldn’t finish it and I don’t think I ever will.
6. What are your favorite books from childhood?
I have so many it’s insane but to name a few –
Harry Potter (all 7 books) by J.K. Rowling (for sure) – I am a proud member of the House of Hufflepuff and have been waiting for my letter ever since I was five
Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery (all 8 books) – my love for descriptive scenic writing takes its roots from this series and I can’t believe that most people haven’t read beyond the first book
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S.Lewis - I have walked into poles, tripped on cracks in cement and missed my bus stop all because my nose was buried too deep in this world.
All of Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot mysteries (I love Miss Marple too don’t get me wrong but she’s not my childhood love)
Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott – My copy at home is tattered.
An Old Fashioned Girl by Louisa May Alcott – It’s my nostalgic reread whenever I go back home because I could somewhat relate to it.
Black Beauty by Anna Sewell
The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame
Malory Towers by Enid Blyton
[If I write anymore it’ll become an essay so I’ll stop here.]
7. What are your current favorite books?
Another list which will never end if I’m not stopped but here goes:
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Mass
The Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer
Paper Towns by John Greene
[Again, restraining myself and moving on….]
Multiple Choice (bold as many as apply to you & add your own choice if you must)
Mystery/Sci-fi/Fantasy/Chick Lit/Young Adult/Horror/Nonfiction/Memoir/Dystopia/Poetry/Self-Help/Historical Fiction/Fanfiction/Realistic Fiction/Biography/Classics
9. Your opinion on rereading books:
I do it all the time / has to be a really good book/I can’t stand it (with a caveat: unless it’s fanfiction!)/I haven’t done it since I was a child/I only reread my favorite sections/should be done with caution
10. How long does it take you to read one book on average?
1 to 3 days/a week/a few weeks/about a month/several months/one day up to several months, completely depending on how busy I am (and on the length of the book)
[Essentially 1-3 days if I have the time otherwise months on end >.<]
11. How do you typically read?
Every opportunity I get, in transit, while waiting, etc. (when I have the book)/Before bed/On the go by audiobook/When I can truly relax/When I remember to.
12. How many books do you typically read in a year?
None or 1/About 1 to 3/Maybe 4 to 10 (IF you don’t count fanfiction. I read HUNDREDS of fics a year, at least 15 of which are novel length)/At least more than 10 (if time permits)/ At least 50/ Too much. I can’t keep track./varies between 5 and 50, generally (when I have the money to buy it)
[Fanfiction is another category altogether – I have probably read hundreds in just three months so there’s that.]
13. For school assigned books, what type of student are/were you?
I read all the books in detail/I read all but sometimes skimmed/I nearly read all, I may have skipped a few because they were too boring/I only read the interesting ones/There’s a reason why Sparknotes was made!
[In our school we had short stories, poetry and one Shakespearan play to read which I read in detail. We were also given a list of books to read over summer holidays and that’s when I would pick and choose]
This was loads of fun ^.^ I tag @omgkatsudonplease @autumnalexistence - only if you have the time of course!
