Soleil Noir (Black Sun)
Orange hands slipped a dark blue hood off a pale face. Her strong arms were propped on either side of the cloaked petite girl now. Locking her in. The vibrant neon and a dark, slender brow were challenging her, when she looked back over the couch. As if there could be simply no way she could even begin to think it was anyone else other than her. The book’s worn pages were dented into her lap as it fell from her hands.
“Hey, Kom,” she murmured. “I wasn’t expecting you so soon…” She glanced quickly around the room to Starfire, whose displeased gaze avoided her own.
“Well, I’m here now, Rae Rae…” she sang in her ear. A naughty edge to her voice and a haughty, almost cruel smirk on her face. Her fingers reached up to rake through the silken purple. At last when the long digits came away, they had taken now to twirling a darkly colored lock of the younger girl’s hair. “You know, I just love… your hair.” The pale took a sharp intake of breath at her words. “But you know that… Long or short.” Her strong arms bare as she shrugged as she tossed her own. “Well… it’s nothing short of beautiful.”
The other Tamaranean’s neon green eyes had transformed from angry to outraged. And her arms were folded much too tightly around Silkie. Almost as if she forgot she was holding the poor pet. The little larvae looked unwell. Just a touch bluer than normal.
Raven sighed and narrowed her eyes. She liked her girlfriend and her touches very much, but she knew the truth. Blackfire was overdoing it even more than she usually did. It was fine in private, but this was different. This time it was to get another rise out of her sister. Who just so happened to be Raven’s best friend. She hoped that they could all get past this, but it looked like it was working.
The double doors slid open. “Starfire?” the Titans leader called. He looked pleased to see her. “Hey! There you are.” Raven was glad for the distraction in the form of Nightwing. Everyone knew how Starfire felt about the Wonder Boy. She just hoped her disdain for Blackfire was to a lesser degree than the strength of her feelings for Dick.
She turned to him a fraction. Almost as if he were interrupting her from something. “Yes, Dick?” her tone was so harsh, Nightwing blinked in shock. “I am presently… occupied. Did you require something urgent?”
“Um no, I just…” He reached a hand out to put on her shoulder. She brushed it off. He frowned. “Hey, are you okay?”
“No. I am fine.” She turned away.
“Good. If you said you’re fine. That’s good.” He shifted and cleared his throat. “So um… I was thinking, there’s a sequel to that movie you liked. And it just started showing in the theater downtown. I was wondering if you maybe wanted to check it out tonight?”
“A film? Today…?” She asked surprised and with underlaced annoyance. “Now is not really the most optimal time, Dick.”
Silkie wheezed, clearly unable to take anymore. And with that squirmed out of her owner arms, shaking its misshapen tail back to its usual size. Slinking off to Starfire’s room to rest and rearrange its remaining organs no doubt.
“Okay… But you said that last week when I asked about dinner… Do you remember?” He swallowed. Trying to tread carefully.
“The timing is not optimal, Dick.” She repeated through gritted teeth. Starfire had grabbed the remote and began flipping distractedly. Her red mouth thinned further when out of the corner of her emerald eyes, she saw Blackfire wrapping her arms around Raven’s neck from behind the couch. Nuzzling her and whispering to her.
It looked very intimate.
“Komand'r…?” Raven asked, trying to keep calm and steady as she felt lips tugging on her lobe. “Please, maybe we shouldn’t -”
The seductive, accented voice spoke right in Raven’s ear. But it was loud enough for her sister, who was mere feet away to hear. “The Daughter of Trigon dating me… I cannot believe you agreed.” And she kissed her cheek sweetly. She blushed and glanced at her shyly. Raven lost herself for a moment. But then, her eyes slid over to her friend. She glanced fearfully at the younger Tamaranean, whose fists were shaking and flashing green.
The older girl now seated herself next to the sorceress on the couch. She pushed Raven back down, when she tried to suggest that they excuse themselves with the little dignity she had left. She was ignoring any protests from her. “You know how rare it is to find one who checks off my boxes.” She said aloud. She had everyone’s attention now. “As they are numerous. Really quite extensive.” This aside was more to herself. She looked up, tapping her cheek almost in wonder before she came back to herself, grinning. Flashing her white teeth. Warning or flirting, who could ever say with her? “But you… are exceptional. Yes… To find a being like you, on Earth, no less? How truly fortunate for me.” She gave Kori a wink.
Pretending she was unaware of her sister’s aversion to her. And as if things between the two of them weren’t tense. And like she should be happy for her sister’s relationship. As if they were all gabbing about their significant others. And Starfire being her girlfriend’s best friend knew exactly what Blackfire was talking about.
Oh no. Not this again.
Raven thought she saw the other alien’s eyes flashing a brighter green as if she was charging up for an attack. “Kom, come on,” she warned, futilely. She never wanted to be in the middle of this. Between her girlfriend and her sister. What did they want her to do? Could she be expected to pick a side in this war that had began what seemed like a lifetime ago? And before she knew either of them no less.
“Power, beauty, intelligent… A knockout body… What a standout combination.” And then she kissed her hard, pressing herself onto her. Her hot tongue working furiously into Raven’s mouth. Raven gasped, her eyes slid shut briefly - she couldn’t help it. Blackfire was really very skilled. There was no denying it. And clearly she was a bit of an exhibitionist. Her girlfriend was moaning a little sexier and louder than necessary. All but taking her right on the couch. It was the last straw. Starfire roared, the remote disintegrating right in her hand. She gripped the couch with enough force to break it. It creaked loudly and they sprang apart. Raven grabbed Blackfire’s hand and led her away. Enough was enough. Blackfire grinned over Raven’s shoulder at her sister.
Green eyed slits were on fire and her ears were smoking. Dick still seemed oblivious, or at least he was trying to be. He still tried again. “S-star. I understand if you need time, but we can talk -”
“Not now, Dick!” Starfire growled as she turned to him. The green eyed monster had taken her place. Dick’s hair stood on end.
“I’m sorry Kori. I’ll leave you alone.” He turned sheepishly. “Find me later?” A loud roar was the only response he received. “Right… Bye.”
Cyborg walked in whistling. It was the best time: Sports Center time. Or maybe some video games. He had just been working on his improvements for the security system for the last three hours and he couldn’t wait. He looked beside the television. Nothing. Under the pillows. Nothing. No. “What happened to the remote? And the couch?”
The blue cloaked girl had returned to the scene of the crime after her lunch date. She retrieved her book from the remains of the couch. “Oh. Sorry, Cy… I don’t know what to say.” Raven shrugged. He gave her a look. It clearly wasn’t the state of living room that he disapproved of.
“Look I… I’m sorry.” He placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. She hung her head in shame.
“Don’t worry, I’ll just catch up Sports Center another time.” He gave her a stern look. “But tomorrow, you and I - we’ll get a new remote and a new couch - a better one.” She proffered a small smile and phased through the floor.
“Man,” said Beast Boy, appearing out of nowhere. “How does Raven have two girlfriends without even trying, but I can barely keep one?”
“Really BB, that is your takeaway from all of this?” Had everyone gone insane?
“Um, yes. Because it seems like I’m the one acting normal around here.” He waved his hand in front of his best friends face. “Hello? Two girlfriends? And not to mention hot girlfriends-”
Cyborg glared at him. They both froze when they saw Nightwing walk in. He turned back the way he came. The doors slammed behind him.
Beast Boy gulped, running a hand through his hair. He felt bad for Nightwing. Being a casualty in all this. But, he stood by it. Hell, it had been like this for months now, he was the only one who had the balls to actually say it aloud. As usual, it had been delivered in the form of a joke. But in truth, he knew how. The effect the resident dark girl could have on a person.
It was the very reason why she had two Tamaranean powerhouses practically at war to the death over her.
