“You. Kage–” Hinata starts, but Kageyama’s eyes sharpen daggers into him as if he said something wrong – and it’s too much, and the cold touch of fear sends a shiver down his spine.
“Tobio. Say Tobio, again,” Kageyama requests, the daggers melting into the beginnings of greed, eyebrows furrowing as he bites into the fingers that rest along his lip.
It feels like the floor below his feet is nonexistent, like he’s slipping on the gravity of emotions that’s held him in one place for so long. It’ll take this one final exhale of words, one more sentence to change the nature of their relationship and it’s terrifying – but when have either of them ever been afraid to take the leap for things they want?
“It’s you, Tobio. It’s always been you,” Hinata reveals and the world around them takes a breath, holds it, and then lets go.
