  Summary:

At first it’s hard to say what plagues Hiromi the most: the tickle of the plaster dust in his nose and throat or the blaring klaxon of the system alarm which threatens to explode his eardrums; but as the room—his office—blurs and comes back into focus again, he reaches a conclusion:

At least he can turn the damn alarm off. That’s one point in its favor.

“Deafen alarm!” Hiromi shouts.

An obsequious chirp pings in reply from the Facility’s smart monitoring system and the wretched noise decreases by several orders of magnitude. It’s still audible through the steel door of his office, blaring through the halls and the rest of the Facility, but it’s enough reduction for him to concentrate and regain his bearings.

Another bit of plaster falls from the ceiling and Hiromi coughs from the ensuing cloud of dust. He rolls onto his side, putting himself into the Recovery Position in accordance with the Foundation Emergency Handbook: Section 2, Paragraph 4(a), and begins to Assess.

[OR: Higuruma Hiromi is the Site Director of Nihon Containment and Preservation Site 7. Unfortunately for him, it's about to be a very, very bad day.]

Seven Sentences Sunday

I was tagged by the wonderful @softest-punk. I swear I meant to post this on actual Sunday, but you know how it goes!

RULES: Share 7 sentences of a WIP!

This is from my HiguGojo SCP Foundation/JJK fusion fic "an incident in which certain parts are [REDACTED]". I just finished the rough draft today and its sitting at over 30K. *cries in: it was supposed to be a one shot*

For context, this is after an explosion which has sent Higuruma, and much of the plaster ceiling above him, to his office floor.

Hiromi snaps his head up, looking towards his office door as Gojo ducks through it, and without pause, beelines straight to where he’s lying on the floor. He’d been too lost in memories to hear the hiss of the sliding door preceding him.

He doesn’t bother smothering the sigh that leaves his mouth at Gojo’s presence. On the one hand, he’s a Site Director and he should not appear to be coming undone in front of his Captain; but on the other hand, he can’t deny himself the realization of a slight rescue fantasy, particularly from a person he’s always sought attention from.

The old conflict of emotion and duty rumbles to life in Hiromi’s chest—joy and dread make strange bedfellows; but then again, so do he and Gojo.

“Hiromi?”

Oh, but that settles everything a little.

He’d just as soon entertain advances from either of them, so he taps them both back without much thought.

He sets his phone aside, but almost immediately, there’s the ping of a DM. He assumes it’s the tattooed guy—he looks like the kind of guy still pulling all-nighters in clubs; but to Satoru’s surprise, it’s the lawyer.
