The Bushiribana Gold Mill Ruins
Like many places, Aruba had its own Gold Rush. There are other ruins on the island that we unfortunately didn’t get to (as they are harder to find) but this is the best known one. It was established in the late 1800s, but wasn’t in operation for a long time. We had fun climbing all over this. It’s on the desert side of the island. Surrounded by a whole lot of nothing. It sits on the eastern coastline where the waves are at their worst. The sun is no joke out here. It’s extremely windy on the island (I almost lost my hat in the last pic) so you don’t realize just how hot it is, especially in the desert, until you’ve let the sunburn sink in. We went through an entire tube of sunscreen that week. We reapplied like 3 times in the time we were out exploring over here.
