Goldburger, 5623 York Blvd., Los Angeles (Highland Park), CA 90042
Goldburger started out as a popup in Silver Lake and now they’ve popped up in Highland Park. They specialize in grassfed beef double cheeseburgers (LA style smashburgers). I’m not sure if the menu was limited because of COVID-19. Currently they only accept orders placed online or via delivery. In addition to several kinds of burgers, they have grilled cheese, patty melts, fries, drinks and a kids’ menu.
Smashburgers seem to be all the rage right now. The burgers are served on white buns with American cheese.
* LA Special ($12): grass-fed double cheeseburger topped with pastrami and a dijonaise slaw, warm Bimbo bun. I like the fact that the burger is so LA. The thinly sliced pastrami was a nice addition. The cabbage slaw was nice and crunchy. The burger was cooked to order and had good components but it was lacking a stronger sauce to pull it all together. The smashburgers were thin and not juicy.
The pop-up location seems to be just a kitchen with no place to sit. You can also order cute Goldburger apparel from their website.
