Sfingi Donuts are traditional Italian donuts that are light, airy, and perfect for a sweet treat. These donuts are deep-fried to golden perfection and dusted with powdered sugar for a delightful finish.
Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/4 cup granulated sugar. 1 packet 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast. 1/2 cup warm water. 1/4 cup milk. 2 large eggs. 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted. 1/2 tsp salt. 1/2 tsp vanilla extract. Vegetable oil for frying. Powdered sugar for dusting.
Instructions: The yeast should be dissolved in warm water in a small bowl and left for five minutes to become foamy. Combine the flour, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl. To the dry ingredients, add the yeast mixture, milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir to create a smooth batter. Once the batter has doubled in size, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise for one to two hours. In a deep pot or fryer, bring vegetable oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit 175 degrees Celsius. Spoonfuls of the risen batter should be dropped into the hot oil with a spoon or your hands, and they should cook for three to four minutes on each side, or until golden brown. After taking the sfingi donuts out of the oil, pat dry with paper towels. While the donuts are still warm, sprinkle them with powdered sugar. Enjoy the warm Sfingi Donuts after serving!
