How do you get to feel your wings? I want to feel them again but it’s kinda hard :(
I believe everyone has their own methods of getting to know their extra-human appendages! I know that other winged therians and angelkin may meditate and have their own rituals, and that works very well for them.
Personally as an angel, I have my wings embody an optimistic state of mind or emotion. If I'm not in a particularly pleasant state of mind, I will gently coax my thoughts towards my purpose and angelic identity. Perhaps using a sticky note with a little angel stick figure drawn on as a reminder. And with that, I just imagine my wings around me, providing me with comfort and hope. For me at least, it's a conscious actualisation rather than a spontaneous appearance.
Of course, I didn't immediately feel them as heavy as they are now. It definitely started off with sitting in my desk chair in tears, pretending the weight of the clothes on my back were my true wings. But I found that with practice, my imagined wings started to feel so familiar and comforting; I would think of hope and sunlight and the skies, and each time they gave me faith in myself and became more tangible (well, as tangible as phantom wings can be). And I think whatever kind of wings you choose to realize are likely your genuine wings that you are already familar with in your subconscious, i.e. whatever pair(s) you see or feel on your back are definitely yours, whether in this life or the past.
Perhaps this is simply akin to Pavlov's classical conditioning, but I find it a wonderful technique; both as a way to feel closer to home, and to pull myself out of unhelpful cycles of thought.
