As soon as I saw this slide I knew I had seen the streetscape before! Gold Hill, Shaftesbury in Dorset. This photo would have been taken around the time of the 1967 filming of Hardy’s “Far from the Madding Crowd”, in which it appears. But it is even more famous as the setting for the 1973 “Boy on a Bike” tv ad for Hovis Bread, directed by Ridley Scott and using Dvorák’s Symphony No. 9. Voted Britain’s favourite advertisement of all time. #goldhill #hovis #ridleyscott #dvorjak (at Hanworth, Hounslow, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/CQ0_slpjluT/?utm_medium=tumblr
