I’ve been a fan of the Goldie Vance comics from the very first issue. So I was really looking forward to this new book, the first prose novel featuring the character, and I was not disappointed. The series is about a 16 year old girl who lives and works in the 1960s Florida respect her father manages. She works as a parking valet & loves cars, but really wants to be a detective & helps the house detective out as his apprentice. This story features a theft against the backdrop of a movie production and feels exactly like the comics stories, only told in a different medium. Author @lilliamr totally captures Goldie’s personality, her relationships with her friends and the sense of community, as well as the distinct feel of the resort setting. It’s a good mystery: not too complicated and not too simple. And there are a couple chapters told as comics, too!
