Tea Knight — The Rosy Thorn (and her beloved pet Goldriver)

Enter Lady "Tea Knight" Elizabeth, the epitome of elegance and sophistication (or so she fancies herself)! A tea party in her many-acred flower gardens is sure to be swell unless you're not a fan of English breakfast tea (or whatever it would be called in Shovel Knight) - for in Tea Knight's eyes, that is the only drink *worthy* of being called tea. Perhaps this is how her one-sided rivalry with the green-tea-loving Bullet Knight began?

Beneath her fancy demeanour, Tea Knight is irritable and petty, and silently judges others. She is confidently wrong about social dynamics and believes she is competing with Bullet Knight in a love triangle for Wizma's affections, unaware that she lost long before she started. Still, for all her flaws, when push comes to shove she sides with good over evil. In combat, she makes use of her fencing talents to weave elegantly between each attack until she arrives at the right angle to strike, backing herself up with floramancy and rejuvenating auras from her personal grimoire.

As for Goldriver... he's a simple young dozedrake. He likes baked goods and chin scratches, both of which Tea Knight provides in abundance for the pet she adores so much. It turns out the knight has a *huge* soft spot for animals, turning her into a far cry from both her posh facade and her hateful side. I wonder if she realises how big dozedrakes grow...?

okay i forgot again for five months but i am back on my shovel knight OC backlog. knowing my main two SK OCs are touhou references you might assume tea knight is based on alice margatroid, but this was actually just a series of coincidences.

i thought it would be fun for bullet knight's rival to relate to her love of tea rather than a more prominent character trait. and who's the natural enemy of someone who loves all kinds of teas? a british person who acts like we're THE tea lovers of the world despite only drinking english breakfast tea. i was aiming for a victorian english outdoor tea party feeling, so i took inspiration from alice of alice in wonderland (who alice margatroid is also based on), then added some red to make her look fancier and like the union jack.

i realised the resemblance while i was making her first key art and decided to lean into it a little by giving her a crush on wizma (atp my SK OCs are based more on touhou shipping dynamics than actual touhou). they're not very alike as people though.
