My golett is kind of a velcro pokemon. I've never thought anything strange about it following me around the house-- like obviously a pokemon wants to be near its trainer! But I had a friend over recently who told me the behavior is "creepy" and it's not normal for them to literally be by your side constantly. My golett doesn't seem to be troubled in any way, and everything was fine last check-up. Is there any truth to this? Should I be discouraging it?

it's not exactly an unusual behavior for a golett, because their instinct when they don't know what else to do is to go find their trainer. but it does indicate that your golett is probably a little bored! golett are task-driven pokemon, which is why we often see them out in the wild just lining up boulders and stuff like that.

if your golett is following you around constantly, that makes me think it's decided that its current task is watching over you. we believe the golett line was made by ancient societies for the purpose of protecting and assisting them, so this is not strange in and of itself. it's just that, if it's always following you around and not doing much else, that's a sign of understimulation. you don't need to discourage the behavior unless it turns into resource guarding/anxiety when you're not around (the golett line can become overprotective of their trainers), but i'd look into ways to enrich your golett to make sure that it's not just following you out of boredom.
