The Surface Dwellers of the Voiceless Peaks
The mountain range of the Voiceless Peaks extends far south of the borders of West Haven and the Hollow, which is divided by the River Wyanad as it flows to the West. Here is an expansive series of mountains that have been home to many groups of people.
The first known mortal settlers of the Voiceless Peaks were the High Elves of the Glaad, who had a deep connection to divine magics and settled around large lakes that formed at high altitudes. Many of their groves and quartz structures can still be found amongst the mountains.
As the Elves migrated to the lands around them and aged, their mighty strongholds began to fall, eventually being abandoned altogether as smaller communities began to appear all across the continent.
The Merovek, a group of orcish people who had had a poor relationship with the elves, emerged from the fringes of the mountains they had been forced to hide in at this time, and quickly became the dominant group on the surface of the Voiceless Peaks, opting to settle in many smaller, less permanent, communities across the mountains.
Noticeably around this time many Nomadic Goliaths, who were said to be descended from Giants, returned from the east and began moving across the area, often settling in the ruins that the Elves of Glaad had left behind.
In the present day, the Surface of the Peaks is home to the Merovek, now split into many smaller tribes, several nomadic goliath groups, small elven communities and many gnomish and halfling settlements. The relationships between most are amicable, and the area has a good relationship with the Dwarven-Ruled Hollow of West Haven.
