Kishimon, Danbara, and KitaRio doing Shall We Love at Hinafes 2023

This is exquisite. While in most covers, the participants are so bowled over by the song's reputation that they do little more than SING HARDER AT IT, the participants here are all experienced and refined enough in their abilities that they can actually think about subtleties in execution. (I'm reminded of my beloved H!P 2015 Akai Nikkichou).

Danbara gets the MVP, because this is the first time I've ever heard vocal interpretation of that level applied to the falsettos in this song. Most of the singers in H!P are concerned with the belting side of things, so their falsettos are pretty basic. Kishimon's falsettos are very well controlled R&B goodness (although I smell BR scrubbing for everyone, as usual :\\\\), but Danbara imbues unmistakeable timbre to her falsetto. Like, think Barbara Cooke. How the fuck is she doing that.

I really like the slice of life scenes in the SHALL WE LOVE PV, just seeing them act like normal teenage girls was cute. I wish they made a slice of life/school drama with the three of them.

In the past year we had Gomattou and now Tanaka Reina go viral with Japanese twitter and Tiktok especially with zoomers who love their look. I wonder if it's the y2k 2000s appeal because even the most exposed current members like Kamiko and Maria never go that viral.
