Gomek was an amazing saltwater crocodile, nearly 18 feet long and 2,000 pounds. He passed on, but is preserved, and still stunning.
In the new exhibition Crocs: Ancient Predators in a Modern World, visitors can see live species, life-sized dioramas, and interactive exhibits.
One of the featured models is of Gomek, a 5.42 m (17 ft 9 in) long, 860 kilograms (1,896 lb) saltwater crocodile that was captured in Papua New Guinea. At his death in 1997 of heart disease, Gomek was probably between 60 and 80 years old!
