I want the K. [CACKLES IN THE DISTANCE]
8: Eyelid Kiss
"David, what are you doing?"
Rose's voice doesn't inspire as much terror as it once did. In fact, it's almost become a comforting presence, and you relish in the unsatisfied expression that she gives you, returning it with a signature grin. "What does it look like I'm doing?""It looks like you've made little to no effort to pack up at all, although I told you we were leaving half an hour ago.""You. You said you were leaving half an hour ago."You marvel at the shade of purple adorning her nails as her hand smoothly closes the lid of your laptop, her express unamused. "We. We are leaving, now."A noise of irritation escapes you as you attempt to open your laptop again, and it's frustrating how easily she pulls it from your exhausted, overworked hands. Your grumbling continues as she carefully tucks the laptop away into your bag, and intensifies when she hoists it over her shoulder."Give it back." It's a childish whine, and you make childish grabby hands to match as you tug on your suit jacket once more, trying to get your bag back. Rose responds with a soft hum, peering through the bag instead. She passes it over after a moment, but not before first removing your laptop and sliding it into her own. You make a soft sound of alarm, and she shushes you. You're very much dead on your feet, snark and bite aside. You know that she must know it, and Rose has taken it upon herself to keep you from overworking yourself to the point of sleeping at your desk again. "You may have this back tomorrow, when you'll need it for work. Tonight, I'm keeping it."You huff, and whine, and generally attempt to continue arguing, only to stop, tensing up in something akin to terror as Rose's hand comes around the back of your head, tilting it downwards. "David." She leans in, and you close your eyes instinctively, almost like a flinch.Instead, her lips gently press against your eyelid, before she draws back, brows furrowed. "I mean it. Sleep. I'll see you tomorrow morning."Just like that, she's gone, and you're left with no choice but to obey, something you're glad for when you finally get home and there's no laptop tempting you away from passing out the moment you hit the sheets.
