          “Well howdy to you too, buckaroo.” 10:42am. Some mutual friend’s           (in Vernon’s case, friend’s) kitchen. Kennedy’s in this tacky green           silk bathrobe stirring a cup of coffee with rum slugged in it. He ashes           a smoke into the sink and leans against the counter.

          “Your pal’s like, at work or something. I’m just holding the fort. You           like pancakes?”
