Meet Us Next Week At Pocket Gamer Connects!

Hello Gooniverse! Next week we will be in Helsinki, Finland for the Pocket Gamer Connects conference. Make sure to meet up with Sara (who is Goo's Hattifattener) and Jon who will be there from Goo!

Sara is in one of the speaker panels on the Indie Rock Stars track, discussing tools to use and working with partners. It kicks off on Tuesday (June 17th) at 14.25, so join us for that!

While we're there we also want to meet with work-for-hire studios and freelancers to work together with us on fun projects in our production studio. We are also looking for new partners for collaborations, as well as potential clients looking to create projects using WebGL.

Most importantly, we want to hang out! Grab us for a coffee during the day, or a beer during the evenings, and let's enjoy the summertime in Finland :)

Friday Deskcrit

On our Friday meetings we were to show off the documentation we were able to produce for evidence behind the Design Brief process. Although we still lack a significant main document, we hold only a couple major documents that hold the majority of the filing rather than several smaller documents.

Both Laz and Michael want to see some code for the game done by this coming Friday, which isn't a hard task in itself, it's just the connection to Goo that is difficult and how to understand it. I've been working on the resource loader and managing our ideas to save texture memory. Although it is becoming aware that working with a new technology such as Goo to be quite frustrating in that I need to learn where and how things are being accessed and implemented so I can mimic and edit their doings. This is my first time working with rendered games/programs so I am not an expert at anything but I'm slowly understanding.

Simple environment test in the Goo Engine.

Received the account information in order to use Goo Create, their cloud-based modelling environment. In first thoughts I thought it to be a smooth platform that reminded me of a simplified Unity 3D environment. It was EXTREMELY simple on first glance, it seemed like a great place to test out modelling concepts and such, all the while in relatively any browser.

Although I won't be interacting with this side of the Goo Engine in too much depth, I am sure it is not only simple, but advanced in it's deeper end. I have little experience with modelling and rendering so I didn't venture too far into the program but I'll await Anais and Scott's interpretation.

I think it's pretty good feeling to be able to work with something so new and can't wait to start to formulate a working prototype.

Goo Technologies - HTML based engine

This seems like a great new tool to put forward our new game onto, not only is it new but it's giving incentive to it's developers to produce via the Goo platform. Although it's currently in Beta, I see it as a really good looking engine that would make a great place to work on our M.A.D. card game.

I'm waiting on the invitation to start using the software but I'm sure that will be given shortly as Tom is in contact with the head of the technology.
